CANISIUS +14½ VS AKRON

This is a strong play for me. Akron should struggle early on. The Griffs bring a lot back from a bad team, but are athletic and now have experience. The also have a European tour behind them which gives them an edge vs. a young Akron team that will be still trying to find their best rotations. I think the Zips will be decent in time but there will be some stumbles along the way.

Portland State -3 vs Rice

Portland State may be the biggest secret in College hoops. A very good team last year .They are very well coached and in 5'6" Dominguez they have one of the most dynamic little guys in the country. Braun will get Rice back to a respectable level but it won't happen overnight.

Buff/Youngstown under 143'

I just don't know where Youngstown finds their offense after the Graduation of Barber and Davis. I suppose that they will rely on Sulskis, a 6'7" 2 guard that can shoot over most of his foes. Reggie's teams are usually pretty physical and the suspenion of the Bull's Robinson does not hurt this play at all

Akron/ Canisius over 134'

Based on what I have seen in the preseason scrimmage and the ex. game vs. Walsh, this Akron team will probably be a bit more up tempo than previous editions. They have a lot of interchangeable pieces and will keep fresh legs on the floor. They have two very quick freshmen point guards and l look for the Zips to run when they can. Also, there were plenty of holes in the Akron defense vs. Walsh.The Griffs also like the up tempo game so I think this one gets over the number.
