Niagara -7' 4 units

These Zips are not the same Zips that we've seen in the last 5 years. They are young and will get better but are so inconsistant that its difficult to make any case for them on the road. Akron's best player is Nate Linhart a 6'7" swingman. Nate is the kind of player that every team needs, scrappy and tough, but not the kind of guy that can carry a team on the road. Once you get by Nate its tough to find where any offense will come from. Brett McKnight can be the guy but is also plagued by inconsistancy. He had a terrific game at Pitt then followed it up with a 1/8 performance against a D2 team at home. Akron's post game is non existant and there are two freshmen running the point. Not the ingredients of a team that I care to back in a hostile arena.

Niagara has three guards that can put the ball in the hole and Benn has been very impressive. Lewis and Garrison are also talented and should enjoy this match up with the young and small Akron guards. Linhart may be able to limit the production of one of them but not all of them. Advantage in the paint for Niagara as well. Egemonye should have a nice night, I would expect a double/ double performance from Niagara's big guy.

All in all, I think that the match ups in this one strongly favor Niagara. This is my second largest play of the season.

Thanks Harris, thinking this is a nice spot for the Purple Eagles.

Miami/ Temple Over 122' 2 units.

Temple likes to get out and run and may force the redhawks into a faster tempo than normal.

was looking at this as well, but got killed with a road chalk game last week and swore to myself i would never play one again this season. i really love Siena, and UC Davis tonight just won't let myself pull the trigger. i figure even if i get lucky tonight it's a losing long run proposition and would just install bad habits.

Not a problem, I know exactly what you meant. I will rarely make a play like this myself as its based strictly on numbers and not in depth knowledge of either side. Road chalk is poison but every now and then I'll bite.

Just wanted to add that Akron's redshirt freshman point guard Steward will be out for some time. He started the first three games for the Zips. This is not a huge loss but is certainly not a plus for Akron.

I didn't watch/listen to the game. Did you? Wondering if a key player fouled out? Injuries? :think2:

Any insight you can give on this game would be nice. I am charting this Niagara team for future reference.

Thanks in advance! :toast:

Keep up your hard work, it is much appreciated. :aktion033

No excuses, Niagara just was not good enough. They got almost nothing from Benn and their big guy. The Eagles opened up an 8 point lead in the second half but Akron closed it out with a 15-2 run at the end of the game. The Zips got a huge game out of true freshman point giuard Hitchens and were the better, tougher team on the defensive end of the floor. I'm a big Akron fan and did not see this kind of poised effort on the road coming from such a young team.

I mentioned before that they are young and inconsistant and they are but they grew up a little tonight and should continue to improve.

I took a pretty good hit on this one.
