These Zips are not the same Zips that we've seen in the last 5 years. They are young and will get better but are so inconsistant that its difficult to make any case for them on the road. Akron's best player is Nate Linhart a 6'7" swingman. Nate is the kind of player that every team needs, scrappy and tough, but not the kind of guy that can carry a team on the road. Once you get by Nate its tough to find where any offense will come from. Brett McKnight can be the guy but is also plagued by inconsistancy. He had a terrific game at Pitt then followed it up with a 1/8 performance against a D2 team at home. Akron's post game is non existant and there are two freshmen running the point. Not the ingredients of a team that I care to back in a hostile arena.
Niagara has three guards that can put the ball in the hole and Benn has been very impressive. Lewis and Garrison are also talented and should enjoy this match up with the young and small Akron guards. Linhart may be able to limit the production of one of them but not all of them. Advantage in the paint for Niagara as well. Egemonye should have a nice night, I would expect a double/ double performance from Niagara's big guy.
All in all, I think that the match ups in this one strongly favor Niagara. This is my second largest play of the season.
