Anaheim (+240) -- risking 2.5 to win 6
: I was going to take pretty much anyone against San Jose in round 1. I have said all year that this team is a fraud, and I expect them to continue to be playoff disappointments. It gets better, as they face an Anaheim team that is on fire, with a fantastic top 4 in Niedermayer, Pronger, Whitney and Beauchemin. Not only are these guys good, but they have plenty of playoff experience (and rings). Up front, the only thing that worries me is the lack of a top tier checking line, as Moen and Pahlsson are gone. However, with the emergence of Bobby Ryan, they definitely have the scoring to compete. Really really like the value here.

Calgary (+140) -- risking 1 to win 1.4: Again, this is a value play on a series where I see the road team with a slight edge. If Chicago wants to win this series, they absolutely need to sweep the first two games at home. Personally, I don't think a young, inexperienced team can do that. Yes, the Flames are banged up on the back end. However, they really aren't much worse than the Blackhawks, who boast a below average defence themselves. I think the good, veteran forwards on the Flames will keep this series close. I look for this to go 6 or 7 games.

Vancouver + Washington (+110) -- risking 2.5 to win 2.75: Not willing to lay the juice with either on a single bet , but I feel both will cruise. The only thing preventing this parlay is if Chris Mason stands on his head, or Jose Theodore shits the bed. The latter is more likely, but I like the ability of both favourites to score enough to overcome potential deficits.

Thanks... I see a lot of people on the Blues. That's expected, as the Vancouver/Washington parlay is a bit of a homer play on my part. GL to all.

St. Louis/Vancouver Over 5 (-110) -- risking 1.1 to win 1
: Judging by the early games, it will take some time for the refs to put their whistles away. I know this is the playoffs, a new game, but in their four meetings these teams combined for 10,10,3,6 (avg = 7.25/game). St. Louis is young and has a lot of speed up front, which may work in their favour against a Vancouver defence that is not the fastest in the world. On the other hand, Vancouver also has two solid scoring lines that have shown their ability to score against STL.

Columbus/Detroit Under 5.5 (-125) -- risking 1.25 to win 1
: I hope I am doing the right thing here, as the majority of games are going comfortably under the number. My winning percentage is about .125 when betting unders. Columbus did a pretty good job for half the game, but got some really brutal breaks. I think we have another low scoring duel here.

Anaheim/San Jose Under 5 (-115) -- risking 1.15 to win 1
: These teams are playing it extremely tight. Game 1 was as tight as any game played in these playoffs. I expect more of the same from Game 2, as neither team is able to muster much in terms of quality scoring chances.

Carolina (-130) -- risking 1.3 to win 1
: I like Carolina to win this series, and was actually hoping they'd lose game 2 to get a really good series price. Now, they sit with home ice against a beat up Devils team. Carolina should get a good boost from the home crowd, who have not seen a playoff game since the Canes won the cup in game 7. Langenbrunner is out, helping the Canes' cause even more.

Calgary (-145) -- risking 2.9 to win 2:
From the start, I was going to bet Calgary in Game 3. It would be better if they had managed to hold a lead in one of the first two games, but they have only themselves to blame. That being said, they have won the first playoff game at home in each of the past three years. They always get a huge boost from the Calgary crowd, and it might give them the boost they need to pull out at least one win. The pressure really is on the Flames now, and I hope they can respond.

You'll get an effort out of Flames for sure.
I hedged a bit on my Hawks series bet at +430

So I guess we agree

Washington (-125) -- risking 1.25 to win 1:
Was extremely pleased by how the Caps played Game 3 away from home. 4-0 was flattering to the Rangers, who were dominated in all aspects of the game. Varlamov was a very pleasant surprise, and the fact that he knows little English is probably a bonus in terms of not feeling the pressure or having to listen to Sean Avery. If the 18 skaters can play as good as they did last game, Varlamov will not need to be perfect in Game 4. The key to the game is Ovechkin passing the puck. If he goes out and continues to pass, and doesn't try to be the hero on his own, the Caps will be able to create a ton of quality chances. Because that's what it takes to beat Lundqvist.

Calgary/Chicago Under 5.5 (-125) -- risking 1.25 to win 1:
Having a hard time picking a side, but I think with all the emotion in this series, it will be a tight game with perhaps more fights than goals.
