Hi all

Will be posting my preseason picks in this thread.

American Bowl
NYJ/TB Under 32 - 1 unit

Coaches play a big factor in the preseason, both Gruden and Herm have been historically conservative in the preseason. Last year's bowl saw a coach who really wanted to win and showcase his team (Spurrier), so it was a blowout. Don't think you'll see that here. After Pennington, the Jets have little at QB, so the 2nd half of this game will probably be boring.

Hall of Fame Game
Green Bay +3

Gut feeling on this game. Logical choice is KC, but gotta like GB's advantage at QB. Nall did pretty good NFL Europe as I recall.

The rain favors the offenses, so I'll take GB's backups over KCs. Total is a bit too dicey with weather, etc.

Thursday Night
NYG/NE Over 34

Both teams are have questions on the DL, NYG is banged up pretty bad there too. Both coaches want to execute with the 1st string, so I think there will be more scoring than usual. NE secondary is thin as well.

Ugly game. Fumble at 1 and dropped TD pass for the Pats cost the Over. If one of those would have come in, woulda been a winner.

Friday Plays:

Tampa Bay +3
Gruden is talking like this game is important and wants to show his team isn't going to be fatigued after the Japan trip. Tampa also seems to take this rivalry more seriously.

St. Louis +3
Martz is taking this game more seriously than he did last year's preseason games. Rams have the edge at backup QB and the Raiders always seems to lack interest in preseason games. Rams have actually gameplanned for this game and practiced like it was a game week.

2-0 last night

YTD 2-2 -0.2 units

5 games today

Cle/Ten Over 37
These teams went 7-1 Over last year combined. Couch and Holcomb will get lots of chances to throw the ball here. Titans have McNair, O'Donnell and Volek at the helm. See a real good chance to get Over here.

Carolina +2
Spurrier has taken a different attitude this preseason, he realizes that winning isn't as big a deal as he thought it was. The QBs and WRs have also had a poor camp so far for the Skins. I like Carolina's QB rotation more than Washington's

Denver -3
Houston seems really banged up, the OL is still swiss cheese. Shanahan wants to break in his new QB and see how the DL responds. Anytime Tony Banks is playing, I want to be on the other side.

Kansas City -4
KC looked good Monday night and they get a couple starters back. No Garcia for the 49ers and they will have 2 rookies QBing most of the game. Niner secondary is also not in great shape. I don't think Erickson cares much about this game.

San Diego +3
Seattle will have 15 players sitting out, including 6 starters, so Holmgren is going to be looking at a lot of backups. I like Brees and Flutie over the rookie-laden secondary of Seattle.

Didn't like any games the past few days. Will play tonight's game.

Oak/SF Under 37

Callahan stated that his focus is the run this week, he wants to look at all the backup RBs he has in camp. A lot of running means time off the clock more quickly. Both defenses looked impressive last week. Niners held KC to 2.5 ypc last week, so I don't think the Raiders can break any big runs.

3 plays tonight

Mia/Jax Under 35

Both offenses looked terrible last week, can't see that changing this week, especially without Brunell for Jax. Garrard will be facing the 1st team D, he was only 3 of 8 last week against backups.

Car/NYG Under 35

Another situation here of bad offenses. Giants OL is very weak and should get eaten alive. Carolina is very run oriented and bland as well. 20 points for either team is stretching it. Hopefully the Giants don't turn it over as much this week.

Sea/Ind Over 39

Really I could see all games today going Under, but this one stands out. Fairly high total and last week's scores were a bit deceiving. Both teams were horrid against the run, so I think coaches will want to tighten that up and so passing may be a bit easier. Colts are also thin at RB, so QBs should throw more. Seattle D is still banged up and will be facing more offensive talent than San Diego had.

Disappointing Friday. Going with 5 favs today, but all 5 should bounce back after dismal performances last week.

Pittsburgh -3
Cincinnati -3
Washington -2
Kansas City -3
San Diego -4

Trying to find some momentum in this preseason

YTD 8-10 -3 units

TB/Stl Under 37.5

Cuts are coming up for the Bucs, so Gruden will likely want to look more at backups. Also Gramatica is out, so rookie kickers will be kicking. Rams D looked impressive and Warner will be playing an entire half to see if he can bounce back. I don't like that proposition against the Bucs D.

No love this preseason, got kicked in the gut with the late TD Monday. Will still hold the course.
YTD 8-11 -4.1 units

2 for Friday

NE/Phi Under 36
Both coaches said this will be vanilla offense and Pats haven't given up a lot of points this preseason. Figure that coaches just want evaluate the borderline players and get out.

Miami -6
Might expect Atl come out fired up and rally around Doug Johnson, but this is preseason, so I don't think that will happen. Baltimore D swarmed Atl last week and Miami's D is at least on par with that D. Falcons have 3 top CBs out due to injury and Miami wants to throw the ball more effectively, seems like this would be the game to do it.

1-0-1 yesterday, least got a unit back

YTD 9-11-1 -3.1 units

Buffalo -3

Statement game for Buffalo, well as big as it can get for a preseason game. Starters will be going into the 3rd quarter. Rams starters won't be going as long, Warner will go even shorter.

NY Jets -2.5

Jets own the Giants in the preseason, Giants have looked abysmal first 2 games and have very little depth at the skill positions to come back in a game. These teams do play in the reg season, so not much will be shown, but Jets will work Curtis Martin more.

Jacksonville +6
4th preseason game for the Bucs, so they will be taking things easy. Jags have shown some good depth this preseason, racking up 379 yds vs. Miami last week. No Jimmy Smith, but he doesn't contribute in preaseason anyway. Del Rio wants to build on last week's performance, so catching 6 is a bonus.

Car/GB Under 36.5
1st stringers for Car will go into the 3rd, Carolina offense not so good, but the defense is, the longer they go, the less scoring there is.

Houston -1
SD is another team with not a lot of depth, no LT today and Texans want to use this game to prepare for the regular season. After last week's drubbing by Dallas, they should be focused. SD has seem uninterested and sloppy this preseason.

Seattle -3.5
Big focus on the offense this week for Seattle, KC just wants to get out heathly as it is the 4th game for them. Holmgren was not happy last week.

Week 4 of the preseason is a crap shoot. Will just be playing some preseason system plays. The 2 Overs are an 89% system play.

NYJ/Phi Over 35
KC/Stl Over 41.5
Balt -5
Green Bay -3
New Orleans -3
