It had been widely known for sometime to not draft rookie wide receivers onto your NFL fantasy football teams. Last year, however, broke the mold. Into so many pieces that some are still in grandma's foot. Has something changed? Was the myth over blown to begin with?

My take is mostly the latter. Most rookies forced to play in space struggle. QB's, WR's, CB's, safeties. One reason is that its much easier to predict the success of NFL linemen and defensive front seven players than players who have more time to think.

What do you notice? I notice a lot of players, espeically in the early rounds. in 2013, 6 WR's were taken in the 1st 2 rounds. In 2014, 12. Also, many of these players did not have good rookie seasons. And a couple of the more notable ones were force fed many targets because their teams were so short at the position. Benjamin and Robinson in particular. I would have caught most of Jarvis Landry's targets.

So which rookie WR's if any this year? Here are my thoughts on the early rounders:

Cooper: NFL ready player from an NFL ready program. Goes to an easy to understand offense. That's the positive. Bad coach and QB should lead to few overall TD's. This could easily be the worst offense this year. Pass

White: Much better offense than the Raiders but White doesn't have to win starting job at beginning on season. Pass

Parker: Future HOF but will be playing 2ndary role to Landry fantasy wise.

Agholor: Should be 3rd WR for eagles after Huff and Matthews. Huff likely to see Landry type slot numbers in quick option offense. Better option if Bradford not ready to start as Sanchez likely to look deeper earlier in progressions.

Perriman: Has the tools but isn't a very good player right now.

Dorsett: I don't understand this pick. Won't see field much.

Smith: Worth taking a flyer on, especially if Fitzpatrick is QB. Is probably better than the Jets' 2 over rated older receivers right now. 2nd best after Parker in draft.

Green-Beckham: I've never seen him play so I'd be guessing and lying.

Funchess: Worth a flyer on. Benjamin and Cotchery suck, so targets could come if he can run routes.

Lockett: Worth a flyer. Good football player. Could easily start from day 1 on very good offense.

Strong: Considered a bit of a project. Pass.

Conley: Good player. Could start. Worth a flyer.

Coates: Spot player only.

Montgomery: Special teams only.

top 3 are sure bets.

Parker might have the best season of them all. The guy has been outstanding in camp.

Did you just say that Kelvin Benjamin sucks? He had 1000 yards and 9 tds as a rookie.

DeVante Parker's (foot surgery) agent says everything is going "perfect" in his rehab, and that he remains on track for Week 1.
Parker's agent is also confident he won't need further surgeries after having a screw replaced in June. "I don’t think it will happen again," the rep said. "They got it right." We'd expect nothing but optimism from Parker's agent, but it's still better than the opposite. Parker will likely begin camp on the active/PUP list, but most signs suggest he'll be ready to go for the regular season. Jul 14 - 4:44 PM

Green-Beckham is a physical beast. More of a project but he might have the most upside of anyone.

Always laugh when I see love for Alabama players. People say they are NFL ready from an NFL ready program.

Most of them turn out to be shitty in the NFL.

I think anymore this "6'4 225 pound receiver is overated. It's a lot of short passes/ bubble screen league where outside of Calvin Johnson, alot of the good receivers are 5'10" or so and skinny.

If Cooper stays healthy I`ll give him 1,100 yds and 8 TD`s.

Solid rookie season for the kid.

Really? I'll bet you a crisp $100 he doesn't hit 1,100 yards.
