Ron Paul group to defy IRS

BY JOEL GEHRKE | APRIL 15, 2014 AT 2:15 PM

Former Congressman Ron Paul gestures during a rally for Republican gubernatorial candidate Ken...Ron Paul's nonprofit Campaign for Liberty will fight the Internal Revenue Service's demand that it reveal its donor list to the agency, despite having already been fined for refusing to do so.

"There is no legitimate reason for the IRS to know who donates to Campaign for Liberty," Megan Stiles, the communications director at Campaign for Liberty, told the Washington Examiner in an email on Tuesday. "We believe the First Amendment is on our side as evidenced by cases such as NAACP v. Alabama and International Union UAW v. National Right to Work. Many 501(c)(4) organizations protect the privacy of their donors in the very same way as Campaign for Liberty. For some reason the IRS has now chosen to single out Campaign for Liberty for special attention. We plan to fight this all the way."

Ron Paul suggested that the group will refuse to pay the IRS fine in an fundraising email to supporters about the agency's request for information.

"Paying this outrageous extortionist fine — just to exercise our rights as American citizens to petition our government — may even be cheaper in the short run," he wrote. "But it’ll just embolden an alphabet soup of other federal agencies to come after us." Paul's email said that the rule requiring that 501(c)(4)s list their donors is "rarely enforced."

Stiles accused the IRS of trying to silence her organization. "The IRS technically requires donor information from 501(c)(4) organizations and is forbidden by law from releasing it to the public, yet despite this they have 'mistakenly' released the information repeatedly over the years," she wrote. "Often these leaks have been made to political opponents of the conservative groups whose information was leaked. Leaking the donor information is intended to harass and to intimidate those donors from donating to political causes. Campaign for

Liberty has refused to provide donor information to the IRS to protect the privacy of our members. Now the IRS has demanded the information and fined Campaign for Liberty for protecting its members’ privacy."

Paul is an American Patriot even his views on the Ukraine situation is sound. Why Obama is following the lead of Insane John McCain & the few neo-cons left is baffling. The coup Ukraine government sends troops into eastern Ukraine, the army troops sent to the eastern Ukrainian city for an “anti-terrorist operation” are leaving en masse. Some troops are openly voicing support for the eastern Ukrainians, while others are speaking out against a war. According to Interfax, citing local self-defense activists, some 300 Ukrainian troops agreed to lay down their weapons and “go home” following negotiations in Slavyansk.

When you have media saying there are few people in Ukraine that want to be part of Russia and you see images of the citizens all supporting Russian rule the certainty of media accounts becomes suspect. When the military won't support the governments directive to take back government buildings and then take the military weapons to bolster the separatist the media accounts then become misinformation. Sure, Russian instigators most likely have played a part. But, the Russians didn't change the minds of the Ukrainian people and it would seem that by having elected a pro-Russian President this was the intent all along. Are there two separate factions - yes. But, reports that the larger of the two is pro-Ukraine seems a little far fetched. The actions of the people say otherwise.

And Putin knew that all along. He also knew that Europe was in no position to oppose him. He’s got them by the balls energy wise.

He’s got all the cards and as long as he doesn’t overplay his hand he’ll be fine.

As for Obama, he has no hand. He would be wise to fold and play another day.

All of Obozos comical empty bluster ("there will be consequences", "red line moments") only make him look like the amateur he is.

A lot of Republicans say, "I'm a Reagan Republican - peace through strength!" without exactly knowing what it means.

It means if you're going to stand up and threaten someone, be prepared to back it up.

It means violence is RARELY the answer, but when it is, it is the ONLY answer.

How can the POTUS stand on a podium and project strength abroad when every dictator and tyrant on the planet sees him slashing the instruments of that strength here at home?

Every time the community organizer clown opens his yap, the world just laughs.

Putin has played his poker hand exceedingly well along with having a little luck. When winning a hand it is necessary to know who the pidgeon is,
if you see no pidgeon its obvious that your the pidgeon. Putin's gleefull, he sees Obama.

REALLY? umm, 70% of their exports are oil/nat gas, and THEY are dependent on Europe.

this is why Putin, pulled the trigger with his bordering neighbor. When he made the call, did the Chinese say, 'bend over im coming in dry' :)

'Vladimir Putin is more likely to sign a 30-year deal to supply pipeline gas to China next month after more than a decade of false starts because the crisis in Ukraine is forcing Russia to look for markets outside Europe

While Putin and President Xi Jinping will make the final decision in Beijing next month, Russia’s need for new customers means it’s pushing to complete a deal first mooted in 1997, a manager at gas-export monopoly OAO Gazprom (GAZP) and a government official said, asking not to be named because talks are ongoing. In China yesterday, Russia’s deputy prime minister said he “hoped” a deal would be signed in May.'
