Rolling Rock is awful beer

I have some friends that like Rolling Rock, but I don't understand it. It is some of the worst tasting beer I have ever had. Their marketing campaign must be the nuts, because the beer itself is awful.

Good beers:

Sierra Nevada -- if I want something with some flavor

Heineken -- a good standard light beer that you can pound

Budweiser -- after a couple "good" beers, you can start drinking this one

Even after a few "good" beers... I still think Rolling Rock sucks

Yes they have somwhat of a cult following(I dont understand it either)
Brewed upstate NY or Pennyslvania I think.
Big on college towns up in NE my only explanation.

Also, I think one of the best beers around is Milwaukee's Best. Especially from a can. That beer rocks!

Rolling Rock blows... period.

You know, as is true for a helluva lot more booze than you can imagine, if you hold blind taste tests, you'll be amazed to find out that people often choose cheaper crap over the most expensive a LOT. Scotch, whiskey, beer, etc - all true. Try this at home, pour some brew into chilled glasses, don't tell 'em what they're swilling and see what they like the best.

Btw, I HATE Sam Adams!!!

Never liked Rolling Rock, St.Pauly Girl, etc. Too watery.

It reminds me... I was a bit of a scotch drinker for a while, but now strictly bourbon. I am of the belief that it is impossible to be both a scotch and bourbon drinker... you're either one or the other, but can't be both.

Getting back to my story... my girlfriend (at the time) got me a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue label, which I guess is over $200 a bottle or something like that... I didn't like it nearly as much as Johnnie Walker Red OR Black. The Blue label was bit more viscous and didn't have a flavor that I liked.

We do a lot of "beers of the world" type of thing at a small card game I go to. Its like everybody brings a couple different 6 pack brand, and we all share- its good fun and
you dont get stale taste from 1 brand.
Sidetracking-got a little buzz in ny one one day after work with friend Ken. It starts freaking snowing. Were like F this this lets got to florida for the weekend drinking charter boat fishing beach sun etc... Im like great we head to my home to pack shorts. GF is there, Hi honey
me and Ken are going off to Fla for the weekend.
Oh- Have a good time honey she says, just made some meatloaf help yourselves. Got a beer hon.
No but Ill get some(we lived over a deli) what do you guys want - oh it dont matter- ok Ill be right back she says. I figured shed bring a few cans of bud or something. Well she comes back with like a case that included every single beer in the damn store. Ken goes, Damn you got some woman.
Sometimes you dont appreciate things till theyre gone. Grab the moment guys but keep the future in mind!

Dave - lol, well, not meaning to prove the contradiction but I AM both a bourbon and scotch drinker, though I could not stand scotch until about 12 years ago - my main drink at that time was just bourbon. Since my father always had Scotch around, I used to try it from time to time but just didn't see what the big deal was - until one day, when peat and iodine somehow became appealing on the rocks. These days I switch off depending on whichever seems to hit the spot - sometimes I throw in a tequila rocks for variety. I've had that JW Blue and agree too about the taste. I used to try a lot of different single malt scotches and single barrel bourbons but finally used the cost test to wise up - if a scotch costs 3 times what another scotch costs, then it had better taste 3 times better or why buy it? Saved a lot of change that way - favorite brands are Maker's Mark and Dewar's with a bottle of Abelour or Cardhu thrown in from time to time

I never liked Rolling Rock. It is indeed one of the worst beers I have ever tasted. What would you expect from a beer brewed in Pennsylvania. If I drink domestic, I like Budweiser and not bud light. I weigh 165 and don't have to worry about any of that light beer shit. But I just started drinking Red Stripe. This beer is from Jamaica and to my surprise this is some real good shit. Give it a try boys.

Beer is by far my favorite drink. I like foreign beers though. Heineken, Asahi, Dos XX, and many others. Rolling Rock is shitty.

Rolling Rock's quality control is very suspect. For some reason it can get skunky really quick. If it is fresh and has been stored properly I think it is a good beer. I have had my fair share of bad Rolling Rocks though.

As far as rolling rock, its popular here in upstate ny, but I agree you can definetly get some bad rolling rock. I am not a very big fan either way.

Someone mentioned Coors Light in the same category as rolling rock, but I disagree I think it's much better thank rolling rock.

I think the worst beers of all are micheal shays and honey brown. If you try to get drunk off that i guarantee you will feel like shit in the morning. Maybe 1 is good but if you are gonna drink alot you better stay away!
