This may be old but I think it makes a whole hell of alot of since. I think we can all agree on these points.

Robin Williams' Plan for Peace
(I reckon Robin Williams doesn't exactly share the rest of Hollywood's view!)

Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan... what we need
now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.
Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of plan for
peace.. So, here's one plan:

1) The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their
affairs, past & present. We will promise never to "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with
Germany, South Korea and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We
would station troops at our borders. No more sneaking through holes in the
fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave.
We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be
gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of who or where they are.
France would welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 day
visits unless given a special permit. No one from a terrorist nation would
be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself, don't hide
here. Asylum would not ever be available to anyone. We don't need any more
cab drivers.

5) No "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't
attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home, baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self sufficient energy wise.
This will include developing non polluting sources of energy but will
require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou
will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for
their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else.

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will
not "interfere". They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain,
cement or whatever they need. Besides, most of what we! give them gets
"lost" or is
taken by their army. The people who need it most get very little, anyway.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an island some place. We don't need the
spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, it would make a good
homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

9b) Use the buildings as replacement for the twin towers.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can
call us "Ugly Americans" any longer.

Now, ain't that a winner of a plan.

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your
tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling,
'You want a piece of me?'" - Robin Williams

Theres only one teeny flaw in the plan.

The Americans wont piss off and go home, and they wont stop interfering in other peoples affairs.

Iraq is the latest victim.

If you tried to abandon the world your entire country would collapse.
You can barely cope with gas at $2 a pop.

Your system is on borrowed time, and GW bought you a few more years with Iraqs oil reserves.

The only bits you leave, are the bits that have been sucked dry or have no future value.

Its only practical empire building.
But dont be lame about it, when no-one in the world respects you.

I actually agree with most of the above plan, but I seriously doubt that it was actually proposed by Robin Williams. I have seen that proliferted several times on the net, at least a dozen from well-meaning friends who can't take a hint regarding my position on FWD:'s, and never seen it attributed to him before now.

Also, interesting that any celebrity with a liberal viewpoint is just some doumbass, amoral, lowlife scum living the good life and being a hypocrite, but one who advocates the above is someone with whom we can "all probably agree."

To all from other countries who hate the US - Like Patriot said name one other country that has done as much for the world as the US has done. You foreigners are just typical....Always looking for hand outs and help from the US yet never say thanks or appreciate what we do.

You're just like most of the poor in this country, you think everyone owes you something and are not willing to take any responsibilty and take care of yourself.

You better thank your lucky stars for the US keeping your piss ant countries at least half way civilized.

You ungrateful dickheads!

Phaedrus - You are probably right. I doubt this came from Robin Williams. I thought he was a typical hollywood liberals actually.

Great point Sphincter. Do American citizens care that Greek citizens aren't allowed to have a Gameboy? Or that Greek citizens are forced to join the military or spend time doing their 'duty' to the state? Or that religious groups, other than the established state religion, are routinely arrested for daring to spread their faith?

Nope...though that Gameboy ban is awfully funny.

The obesity rate is at 50% last time I checked. That doesn't mean 1 out of 2 is fat, it means 1 out of 2 is beyond fat. To the point that health risks are a serious concern.

Of course just keep injecting cattle with growth hormones. They make ranchers more money like that. What do those growth hormones do to the human body? Screw the testing, just open your eyes.

On the energy crisis, free energy will be seen in our life time. Energy making processes that create more energy than they use have been in the testing phases for years now. Research is continuing to turn this technology into useful fuels for the future.

so are the citizens of most countries. There are, in fact, many up-sides to having a draft. One would be that you don't have a military that is so out of touch with the populace that the attitude "shut up unless you're a soldier" becomes a rallying cry. (Nevermind the fact that they fight to defend the very freedom they criticize)

Unlike baldness (a trait that doesn't come as a result of overindulgence) the obesity comment runs much further than insult, gentlemen, it is an indictment against the entire US culture, a society that can never get enough and in which no one would dare check the actions of an individual...

But at least at you can't smoke in many cities' bars.

'Draft' is a pretty strong word. Are you are referring to the not-uncommon practice of mandatory reserve military participation, for example as is practiced in Switzerland? Not a bad idea on the face of it, as reserves are a much smarter and more cost-effective way to manage a military. Despite the explosion of US interference in other nations' business since Teddy Roosevelt founded the art form, our founding fathers were in fact openly opposed to the idea of a standing army.

The only umbrage I take is the idea of involuntary servitude -- typical of you as a liberal to be opposed to only the *bad* forms of slavery; slavery to a *higher cause* is not only permissable but recommended.

quote:
One would be that you don't have a military that is so out of touch with the populace that the attitude "shut up unless you're a soldier" becomes a rallying cry. Or one that can burn villages and cite orders as their ticket from responsibility or reason. Good point.

Even without the establishemnt of an 'official' militia, Americans' freedom to own and use personal firearms helps guarantee a certain degree of security from external threat, not that any serious threat currently exists. Even more superfluous than our Pax Romana style international army is our "National Guard," the bloated and useless domestic arm of the armed services, which gets dragged off to every nation we fight in direct contravention of the premise upon which the Guard was founded -- domestic defence operations not a part of the regular military in observance of the posse comitatus clause. But it's manpower and resources are very real, and would be very effective in serving the purpose of the reserve militia if only it were allowed to actually serve that purpose. And, it is 100% voluntary yet finds itself with no shortage of manpower even for the gross overuse it sees.

quote:
[obesity] is an indictment against the entire US culture, a society that can never get enough and in which no one would dare check the actions of an individual...

If people want to be big fat disgusting fvcks with a short life spans and no sexual endurance, more power to them. I'm not sure how that is indicative of a need for "checks" on the actions of individuals, but if you feel you would be comfortable living in a nation where you are so far removed from personal responsibility that the government tells you what and how much to eat, then I wish you luck. Just don't invade the US, or the National Guard and I will kill you dead as Lenny Bruce and not nearly so cool.

quote:
But at least at you can't smoke in many cities' bars.

Smoking bans are the current vogue of the statist morons. We just had one passed here that is not quite so apalling as in, say, New York City and Boston, but which is still an idiotic assault on personal choice. Here, restaurants must choose between allowing smoking, and allowing minors. I don't even smoke, but you can bet heavy chalk safely that I will frequent "smoking" establishments in order to not have to listen to some whiny five-year-old refuse to eat. Second-hand bullshit has got to be at least as or more dangerous to health than second-hand smoke.

50% obese?
icon_eek.gif

I have to disagree on this point. The "genius" that put out this % is more likely using the BMI, which I consider to be total BS. In fact, they consider Arnold Schwarzenegger to be morbidly obese.
icon_rolleyes.gif

I'd like to be his kind of obese.

How would you define "out of touch with the populace"? If I remember correctly, an overwhelming majority of Americans were in support of the liberation of Iraq. The anti-war movement had as its 'face' to America and the world a bunch of ignorant celebrities, college professors and left wing cranks whose sole agenda is to bring down Bush. Which group is out of touch?

I also fail to see how any freedom-loving individual can justify a peace time draft, no matter what the benefits are to the State. And if the price of freedom (as you say, 'a society..in which no one would dare check the actions of an individual') is obesity then I say "Eat On America".
