[h=2]The Los Angeles Police Department has put out a strong warning for residents that there will be severe traffic congestion in several Los Angeles neighborhoods as a result of a two-day fundraising jaunt by President Obama.[/h]The LAPD warning includes street closures and detours on Wednesday in the Hancock Park area from 2-8pm. Additionally, on Thursday in the West Los Angeles area, police are issuing alerts for residents to avoid the areas around Beverly Hills, Downtown, and Brentwood from 4 AM-5 PM, reported Deadline Hollywood.
It’s déjà vu all over again, as President Obama is arriving in Los Angeles on Wednesday as part of a three-city fundraising swing that will culminate with a fundraising dinner hosted by Scandal and Gray’s Anatomy producer Shonda Rhimes. Along with Scandal’s star Kerry Washington, the elite guests will pay thousands of dollars to listen to the President’s inspirational words and his summation of how America has been fundamentally transformed for the better since his coming to office in 2009.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the Hancock Park event scheduled for Wednesday evening will entertain about 450 people donating between $1,000 and $32,400. On Thursday, Obama will join a roundtable discussion attended by 25 supporters donating up to $32,400, according to an anonymous DNC official.
The Los Angeles portion of the trip, which included fundraising events in Seattle and San Francisco, is being met with dread by local residents because of the traffic nightmares that erupt during the president’s frequent visits-- which generally seem to coincide with rush hour. The fundraising invitations appeared to apologize for the disruptions, claiming this will be his last trip for the remainder of 2014.
On top of that, Republicans are criticizing the President for once again spending his time attending fundraisers while the world is in crisis. “With all that’s happening in our country and around the world -- wildfires, droughts, and international crises, I think everyone can agree the last thing the president should be doing is fundraising,” Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski argued in a statement on Tuesday.

Christie's mountain out of a molehill involved two lanes crossing a bridge. A one time occurance. This happens every time Obama does these fundraisers. Arrogance all the way. If he was on Gov't business that would be one thing. But fundraising is not justifiable for all the traffic jams he causes everywhere he goes.

LAPD Officer Kurt Smith said an ambulance was being called for a woman who appeared to be going into labor and couldn't get to the hospital across the street due to President Barack Obama's motorcade. Robert Kovacik reports for the NBC4 News at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2014.
Thursday, Jul 24, 2014 • Updated at 7:27 PM PDT
A pregnant woman was stopped from crossing a Los Angeles street Wednesday afternoon because the road was closed for President Barack Obama’s motorcade.
NBC4 anchor/reporter Robert Kovacik witnessed the woman take shelter at a bus stop bench on the south side of Third Street east of Robertson Boulevard and across from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The pregnant woman was with her spouse at the time. Witnesses and two LAPD officers on scene said they believe the woman was in labor and told NBC4 an ambulance was called to the location as a precaution.

A pregnant woman was temporarily prevented by President Obama's motorcade from getting to the hospital. LAPD Officer Kurt Smith explains.
NBC4 talked to the woman on the scene, and she asked not to be shown on camera. She was out of breath and appeared to be in active labor.
Police on the scene tell NBC4 there were two medical emergencies during the president’s motorcade, the woman’s pregnancy and a man having post-surgical problems.

Woman in labor was unable to cross the street to enter the hospital while she was in labor.
Kovacik shot video on his cellphone of the woman sitting at a bus stop bench and posted it to his Instagram account.

Kovacik questioned LAPD Sgt. Kurt Smith at the scene.

"As soon as we can, looks like the motorcade is coming through right about now," the LAPD officer responded. "We’ll be able to open it up for traffic and first we’ll thing we’ll try to get to will be an ambulance, but I can’t guarantee ... the time on that," the officer said.
Obama was in Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon for a 24-hour visit that included two political fundraisers and a speech at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. Wednesday's fundraisers included a stop at the Hancock Park home of television producer Shonda Rhimes.
Several street closures were announced before the visit.

According to witness Carrie Clifford, the woman waited at least 30 minutes before she could cross the street, she told The Blaze. Clifford tweeted updates and pictures from the location, including: "Ironically, Obama is going to @shondarhimes. This could be #GreysAnatomy - woman in labor can't get to Cedars cuz of O."
The White House has not responded to a request for comment. A spokesman for the Secret Service said the incident is under investigation by the LAPD.
"The Secret Service works closely with state and local police counterparts in planning for and conducting motorcade movements of our protectees," Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary said in an email. "It is always our policy to prepare for and facilitate medical emergencies, medical flights, ambulances etc. in the fastest and safest way possible."
NBC4's Jonathan Lloyd contributed to this report.

[h=2]Alaskans living on an isolated Aleutian Island, miles from emergency medical care, sued the Obama administration in 2013 for blocking a gravel road that would wind through the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge and allow residents to reach a vital airport.[/h]Since then, the administration has not budged – and Interior Secretary Sally Jewell (pictured) reportedly told concerned state lawmakers to "get over it" on Friday.
Majority Leader Lance Pruitt told KTUU News that the Secretary made the dismissive comments while meeting with him in Washington, D.C., on Friday.
“[Jewell] wishes Alaskans would just get over this,” Pruitt said. “She implied that this issue was very small."
The Department of Interior immediately parried with a denial of Jewell’s alleged remarks. Jewell maintained a "desire to continue to work with the Alaska's elected officials on the vast range of issues that are important to the state… She did not and would not tell anyone to 'get over it,'" according to a department statement.
Pruitt, however, stood firm.
"I'm confident in what I heard her say. But what I think is important is, what I don't want to get into a war of words with the secretary [over], what Alaskans and Americans need to understand most is the attitude and the callous response to the residents of King Cove in her answer to my question,” the lawmaker remarked.
Alaskan residents also remain skeptical of the department’s denial, pointing to Jewell’s cold demeanor towards the community and its predicament.
"I'm basically appalled. I am, however, not surprised," Della Trumble told KTUU News. "[Jewell] has come across, in my opinion, as very cold and callous."
Trumble spoke for the federally recognized Adgaadux Tribe, which lives in King Cove and can only travel to the Alaska mainland by boat or plane.
According to the local residents and KTUU News, the long and difficult boat ride to the nearest airport in Cold Bay killed many sick or injured people who could not survive the trek.
