I am an active reader on the forum, and don´t really post too much, but today I got ripped off bad, and I just don´t know what to do about it except post. ISLAND CLUB CASINO and sportsbook accepted a wager from me, and then wouldn´t pay it. Their reasoning is that I bet over the maximum wager limit for that sport, but I bet it online and even recieved a confirmation email. They also didn´t cancel the play until the game was in progress. I have the time on the email they sent to prove it. The bet was:
Wager Receipt (0108042355sb12)
STRAIGHT
Bet Date: Jan-08-2004
Bet Time: 16:23:55 (***might be different)

Date: 01/08/04
Time: 07:35PM
Team: LIGHTNING

Line: (0.5) - 120.0

Previous Balance: $1,250.00
Lay: $1,250.00 / Pay: $1,041.67
Ending Balance: $0.00

Thank you.

So, that means I bet the play 3 hours before the game went off, I had only signed up with them 20 min before I made the play. No matter what they say their limits are, they accepted the wager and then deleted it after the game started, as soon as I started winning. Please Advise

I also forgot to say that when I called this morning to talk about it, the girl in charge of customer service, gave me the play and credited my account, then called back later and said her boss got angry with her and went back and deleted the wager. He didn´t want to discuss the matter with me, because he said I made an illegal play because the limit was only 500.

Are the limits stated?

Even if they are stated then I believe they should be held accountable for all of it since they didnt' cancel the play until the game was in progress. At minimum they owe you for a $500 bet.

1) did they give you credit for the 500$ win at least?

2) There was a recent post about the same thing that happened to someone at SIA....I just bought Stanford Wong's book "sharp sports betting" & he claims that this is a common tactic from scummy sports books...they have their limits but they allow the internet to accept higher wagers & then cancel all the winners but dont do the same with the losers...

Many people on this thread were attacking the poor fellow whom this happened too at SIA...In my opinion it is not fair & very dishonest of the book. After all, many players will not (although they should) scrutinize all of the rules with a sports book....an 'assumption' is made that with computers & with software the system should be smart enough to block the cx's from betting over the limit...In my opinion (even if the software is malfunctioning) the book should honour the bet....ESPECIALLY IN THIS CASE WHERE THE CX WAS NEW & MAY NOT HAVE READ ALL THE RULES IN ADVANCE...

Yes, there limits are posted, but I had just signed up and when I did, I asked about limits, the lady told me 5000 football and 3000 basketball so I assumed that hockey would have the same high limits.

No, they wouldn´t give me the 500 and I even asked for at least that to avoid problems.

First problem is lousy software that lets you bet over house limits. Your a customer 20 minutes and you bet essentially a dime on a hockey game, I don't know what the score was if any when your bet was cancelled, but imo. they are wrong. Their software excepted the bet, then they are responsible for dealing with the results. The right thing to do is advise you of the limits for any future action, and pay up. Same old story, probably a bonus book, let me quess you sent $1000 got 25% to make your starting balance $1250. Ask for a refund, and post up at a book that will take your action.

FWIW the Lightning were leading 2 to 1 after 4:49 of the 2nd period, and 3 to 1 after 13:42 of the 2nd period. Winning 4 to 1 with a goal in the 3rd period. I don't know if the book cancelled your bet knowing you were winning, but it is very possible.

UNBELEIVABLE....they wont even credit you the 500$ win

It is true, by virtue of the fact that you bet your entire post up including Bonus on 1 game they figure that you are a bonus whore...so they could give a flying fu(k about screwing with you...you were probably trying to scalp your way out with the bonus...

nonetheless their actions, as described above are extremely crooked...

what was the score when they emailed you that the bet was cancelled?

Yea thats what I´m thinking, I just contacted the editor from Gamblers Digest who has an endorsment on Island Clubs home page, he is contacting the owner. Maybe that will do some good. But yea I already got my money back from them.

I am a manager at Isalnd Club Sports and would like to make one point very clear. The bet was cancelled well before the game started. The bet was placed at 4:23pm, it was voided at 4:59pm and the game started at 7:35pm. ibmf joined 20 minutes before he placed the bet and did not read any of our rules. We offered him the $500 bet this morning but he declined and requested his money back. This is exactly what we did. If the $500 bet would be acceptable to ibmf and all of you on this forum then we will honor that and expect this matter to be dropped here and on all other forums.
