looks like a poker table with some chips who won the $$$ that night, I put my money on your dad cool he can hang with you and your friends

Yep, that was our annual Thanksgiving poker game we play every Thanksgiving night. Shirt and tie required, that's why my boy has that tie; he came straight from out of town and didn't have one on, so I gave him a loaner.

And yes, my pops can hang. He came over and watched the fight with me and my boys last night...he is a kid at heart...

And BTW, my dad always gets up big, then gives it all away intentionally right b4 his designated time to leave. I ended up splitting the pot with...guess who...my late friend that night. Last time I saw him (he lived in Nebraska).

By phone, in person, online? How?

First call each one and see which one will have it on file, then I would go in person and make the request. Should not be a problem at all. I would call the medical examiners office first and ask them where it would be on file, they most certainly will be able to tell you which office to call to get the copy and it should be free or for a minimal fee of like ten bucks.

Thanks man, I have gone around and around about this. The more I have thought about it over the past year+, knowing the reason won't bring him back. He's gone, regardless, so it really shouldn't make any difference if I know why.

But, some days it bothers me. I carried the fvcker's casket to its final resting place. I should know WTF happened to him, ya know? Selfish, but human nature I guess.

And sorry about this pointless thread. Baseball season will probably always remind me of his death. Cubs were literally in the process of finishing off a sweep of the Cards when I found out -- Jones just hit that homer when the phone rang. That was the day after I talked to him, cause Zambrano outdueled Carpenter the day before...

Its not selfish, and it's not sappy, he was a good friend and it's closure, it would make it different for you in your mind to find out why he passed, you are right it wont bring him back but it may help you in the long run, because the time has passed and it will only help you in moving forward which is very important. Let me know how you make out or if you hit a dead end. They should be very helpful to you and if asked why you want a copy tell them the truth, he was a close friend, and leave it at that, I would not go into specifics.

I don't think it's pointless at all. If it helped at all to just vent to others then it was worth it. It's a tough time to go thru for sure.
Something similar just happened here last week. My next door neighbor who was a 38 year healthy guy went missing. He had 3 dogs and last weekend they kept barking and barking for 2 straight days and nights. These were quiet dogs so i figured something was up. His car was in the driveway (Divorced, lived alone) which was alos strange. I knocked and knocked and even looked in the windows (All i saw was dog feces all over the floor). My wife called the police and sure enough he had died in his bed 3 nights earlier. Unfortunately in this case it happened by his own hand. I just found out yesterday that him and a friend tried methadone while at the local bar mixed in with alcohol.
Just shows how fragile life is....
