So one of the ideas that is being bandied about is the notion that we could charge a 10% sales tax and that would cover health care for everyone (yeah, I call BS but figured some of you guys might be aware of some of the pros and cons of this).
I am well aware of the idiots that think Single Payer is a cure all, but fail to look at larger scale countries like the UK, Germany, and France where it's citizens pay 50-70% of their pay in income taxes and VAT (they simply try to cherry pick with Canada and other small scale countries that are nowhere near the size of the U.S.).
Clearly if this was workable and the 90% of Americans that get their healthcare from their employers or the government no longer had to pay for a workplace insurance plan, it would save money (we currently pay roughly $5k a year for medical/dental/vision).
So what have you heard about this fairy tale?
