Batting average may be the most useless statistic in baseball. I'll take guys like Dunn or Giambi on my team any day over guys like Ichiro and Gwynn. I do agree, however, that Howard shouldn't be an all-star this year. His other ratios are down also (OBP, SLG).

Fan selection of all stars have gotten out of hand, especially when the winner now gets home field advantage for the World Series...no way does Varitek or Fukodome deserve their spots, even though they were not selected by the fans...8 Cubs shouldn't be there..
