Can you really live in one of these other discussed countries without your safety being a concern at some point??
US citizens are bolting? huh?.....they didnt get the memo? America is becoming Great Again.
cmon, some are flocking to Canada? WHAT! The exchange perhaps? and a gross socialist in Trudeau?
WHY are retirees leaving N America? ........bit of a shit show?
lol, weird isnt it. From the link YOU posted, flocking out ..basically saying, 'fuck off, give me my cheque and im out of this expensive shit hole.' Surprising, given Mr Trump would surely to turn things around? They are too quick to hit the panic button?........no faith in THE MAN....?
Give it a rest man. The article has nothing to do with Trump and doesn't reference any data from within the last 6 months which wouldn't be available anyway. Americans have been retiring to Latin America for decades to stretch their retirement funds. The 50% increase cited in the article from 2004 to 2014 in Americans receiving social security checks outside the USA is significant but much less so when you consider the number of Americans receiving benefits went up around 30% in that same period.
Either way, it's a beautiful world and there is a lot of great countries with much to offer. Get your head out ass and take a visit somewhere. Unfortunately, some expats refuse to leave the political BS behind and still obsess about it even if they're 1000's of miles away. I imagine you'd be one of those types.
There is a lot of good things about Latin America. One of the best is housekeeping and landscaping on the cheap.
James, where in Mexico are you?

San Miguel de Allende. It's mentioned in the article. Been here 13 years and it's changed quite a bit since I first got here. Some changes for the better and some for the worse. I suppose that's like anywhere though. It' still charming town with a diverse population and you can't beat the weather.
Care to share some more details about life there? I'm certainly interested, I'm sure others would be too.
safe to assume one would need to speak spanish? It's slower paced. The main part of the town inside the outer belt has a speed limit of 20 km/h. The main intersections have round abouts instead of lights. There is actually not a single traffic light in the entire town. Most of streets are cobble stone or flat stones. The town itself is nearly 500 years old and is steeped in Mexican history for its role in the Mexican revolution. The altitude is higher than Denver. Year round high temps are pretty much in the 70's and 80's with little humidity. The city has around 80000 or so people. Of that, maybe 4000 are foreigners. Most of those are Americans and Canadians, but there is also significant amounts of visitors from other countries. Many of the foreigners are permanent residents and pretty much everyone in the foreign community either knows you or knows someone who knows you. I personally don't miss the states much. The only thing I get jealous of when I'm up there is the wide selections in the stores. The pizza sucks here too. But for the most part, you can get anything down here that you can get up there. Anything you can't get can always be shipped or smuggled back after a visit. Two of the larger nearby towns have a Costco which helps to get a few things. Things are generally much cheaper than the USA, especially anything involving labor like auto repair, housekeeping, landscaping, etc. We pay about $14 for an 8 hour shift of full service housekeeping 3 days a week that includes laundry, cleaning, dishes, watering plants, petcare, and pretty much whatever we want done. I'm certainly happy to answer specific questions or show anyone around if they make it here. The dollar has gained a lot of value over the peso the last 3 years which helps.
you clearly missed my point . I was having fun at the trump lovers . USA retirees are jumping ship . The data tells us that . Sorry . Perhaps , we should give the geriatric more time ?
give it rest you say ? lol ,sounds like you were offended ?.....use the sun block .
and ...,,it is a beautiful world ...you got that part right ..enjoy Mexico
