I guess he just didn't want to play for any other team or perhaps he has concerns about his health.

Romo has received interest from CBS, Fox and NBC, and can choose to be a color commentator where he wants. That move could come as early as Tuesday, sources said.

But the decision to leave football already has been made. His run as the Cowboys' quarterback -- and an NFL player -- officially ends Tuesday.

he's still good enough to start on many teams. that being said, he has no contender options so i'm not surprised he left the game.

If he's smart he is playing the Cowboys to get released instead of traded. Now he can sign where he wants. He might still broadcast, but I don't think he's done. He's got that favre mentality.

Not many teams he wants to play for.

This means Phil Simms is retiring?

Probably won't make the football Hall of Fame but if that is true then he should make the human being HOF. Great move.

Wow, even Aikman didn't jump into the #1 seat. This isn't an easy gig no matter how much anyone pretends it is.

[h=1]Cowboys’ Tony Romo retiring, replacing Phil Simms at CBS[/h]
DALLAS (AP) — Tony Romo is retiring from the Dallas Cowboys to replace another former quarterback in Phil Simms as lead analyst for CBS.

The network announced Tuesday that Romo will be paired with Jim Nantz on Thursday night and Sunday games next season. The former 10-year starter considered multiple network offers while also deciding whether to keep playing after losing the Dallas job to rookie Dak Prescott last season.
