how can you say racing is dying and then in the same article say derby attendance is up 8% and grade 1 handle is up 20+%?
title of the article should be "Report Outlines The Stupidity of Whoever Is Marketing Horse Racing"
the people are there and willing to throw money hand over fist at a quality product...the bad news is that probably 9/10 racing are trash with juiced up half in the grave horses running in the opposite direction then there sheet numbers chasing after some super inflated slots purse....
it will kill tracks, horses and the everyday horsemen but the product needs thinned SEVERLY..
i'm in Pittsburgh and we had a local OTB close in April 2011...writing is seriously on the wall
