Report: Manning might be interested in going to Miami

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Friday that longtime Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning might be interested in playing for the Miami Dolphins if he becomes a free agent this offseason.

A league source told the newspaper that the Dolphins are among the teams Manning would consider joining, assuming he's healthy enough to play football. A second source confirmed Manning's interest.

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland has said his team is looking for a franchise quarterback. Late last month, the Miami Herald reported that the Dolphins would consider adding Manning.

Manning missed the entire 2011 season after having neck surgery. On Friday, Manning's agent, Tom Condon, told NFL Network's Albert Breer that Manning "absolutely is determined to play, and he's been making a good deal of improvement, and I expect him to be back on the football field again."

Manning's surgeon, Dr. Robert Watkins Sr., had issued a statement Thursday, saying Manning was "medically cleared" to play football. Condon said Friday the timing of Manning's rehabilitation is uncertain and depends on the regeneration of nerves in his neck.

Manning likely isn't the only quarterback on the Dolphins' radar. Wide receiver Brandon Marshall told NFL.com's Jeff Darlington at the Pro Bowl that he would like to play with Packers backup quarterback Matt Flynn, who's set to become a free agent and would be familiar with new coach Joe Philbin, who was Green Bay's offensive coordinator.

Don't see it happening. This is just some publicity to let the other teams know that Manning is in demand by certain teams.

Baltimore's D has one, maybe two, superb years left; Manning should play for them and see what he can do.

arizona makes a lot of sence to me. we saw what they could do with a good qb, and although they lost bouldin they still have fitz. and their defense has gotten a lot better they lost in the super bowl. plus it just makes sence from a weather and stadium viewpoint

if he does leave Indy , no place will be more attractive for him than Miami. Let's face it. New Coach for offensive coordinator from the Packers and warm climate.

I thought he was also interested in playing in Green Bay as Rodgers' back up because Matt Flynn might be leaving

Heard from a guy at the bar that Manning will likely go to San Fran because they need a QB and Manning will likely only choose a team that is a contender. I say he should go to the Giants and be Eli's backup.

pretty sure peyton manning is just interested in playing football again. if the colts cut him and he is truly healthy, he is going to cheery pick the shit out of where he goes since he only has a few years left. if hes not his former self, but can still play, he might go to an organization that is less than stellar of late: miami, seahawks, jags etc
