I have a feeling we will be hearing about Iverson a few years from now being one of those millionaires gone broke.....

my opinion is he's considering this season to be a waste of time and he wants to be fresh for the 2010 offseason. He would be great bait for teams looking to sign a star at a lower than usual price.

Iverson is no longer a Star ! He's been a liability more than an asset.

Yep, and I don't think he is very smart, either !

Dude is only like 6' tall. too.

A short guy like that, can't lose a step.

He's probably done, IMO !

If he was a decent guy that simply wanted to win a ring before his career was over, he could forefeit a lot of money and probably go play for a contender, much like Charles Barkley did when he gave up millions in exchange for a mere million to go play in Houston for a shot at a ring before his time was up.

He isn't even interested in that or he wouldn't keep going to lousy teams.

It's clear all he's concerned about is money, and having all eyes on himself by being able to start and stack his stats.....

Latrell? Kind of reminds me of Stephon Marbury actually.

Although A.I. is a way more superior talent to either of them.

Yes, they both had/have huge ego's, but Starbury is 10x as successful right now as Spree ever was. Starbury has his own shoe line (of the same name) that makes bank to say the least. He even got paid what, $20 million or more to NOT play for the Knicks! LOL

All Spreewell has is foreclosure and seizure notices (yacht, etc). Stephon is supposedly coming back to the NBA next year or playing in Europe, one of the two. I am guess the latter as he can get a lot more playing time over there (compared to what he got with the Celtics at least) and he may well make more if he signs with CSKA or a similar team.

Yep, you are 100% correct in my opinion.

Checks and stats, that's all A.I. cares about.

I may not be the biggest AI fan, but I will always respect and admire his all out effort on the court once the game tips off. For a guy his size, he is fearless. The guy has been swatted to the ground attacking the rim for more than a decade.
If more guards and sf's had balls half the size of AI's they would be attacking the rim at a much greater rate. AI willed the 76's to their one NBA final eventually losing to the Shaq/Kobe led Lakers.
AI is a guy with energy, who would play the entire game if need be. He could be a great spark for a team who needs scoring. If AI went to a contending team, I believe he could be convinced by a respected coach to come off the bench.
The Utah Jazz with Korver and Miles on the injured list have no one coming off the bench to attack the basket, shoot the three and spark a rally when the starters fall behind. Yes AI in Utah, I'd luv to see it. If only for the fan reaction. Sloan is old school and he would challenge AI to get every bit of energy and contribution from his fearless talent.

He was a pretty ballsy player, being only about 6' or so. You have to know you're going to get hurt playing with dudes that are 6' 6" and better.

Very tough little guy !

Iverson is best suited as the lone wolf on a team of non-shooters. That way he has a reason for putting up a ton of rediculous misses since no one else is gonna make anything. He had talent next to him on the 76ers when they went to the Finals but it wasn't in the scoring department. He makes some great shots but misses a good amount trying to do it all himself.

Up And Down And Officially Out

Allen Iverson's second run with the 76ers is officially over. You have to wonder if the superstar will retire, this time for good. His 2009-2010 season:
Sept. 10: Signs 1-year deal with Grizzlies (plays 3 games for Memphis)
Nov. 7: Granted leave of absence from team
Nov. 16: Iverson and Grizzlies agree to terminate contract
Nov. 19: Clears waivers; becomes free agent
Nov. 25: Announces retirement from NBA
Dec. 2: Signs free agent contract with 76ers (plays 25 games for Philadelphia)
Feb. 22: Takes indefinite leave from team to tend to ill 4-year-old daughter
March 2: 76ers announce Iverson will not return this season

Iverson
ATLANTA -- Allen Iverson's wife filed for divorce the same day the Philadelphia 76ers announced that the All-Star guard would not return for the rest of the season.
Tawanna Iverson said their 8½-year marriage is "irretrievably broken," in papers filed Tuesday in Fulton County Superior Court. She asks for full custody of the couple's five children, child support and alimony.
The youngest child is 17 months old and the oldest is 15.
After rejoining the 76ers as a free agent in December, Iverson returned to Atlanta in February to be with his family and deal with an undisclosed illness affecting his 4-year-old daughter, Messiah.
The 34-year-old Iverson made a tearful return to Philadelphia eager to prove he wasn't finished after disastrous stints in Detroit and Memphis. He played his first game back before a sold-out crowd dotted with No. 3 jerseys, but he only showed flashes of his former playmaking ability. He scored at least 20 points six times -- including a 23-point effort in a game against the Lakers that turned into a throwback one-on-one duel vs. Kobe Bryant.
The former league MVP and four-time scoring champion averaged 13.8 points in 28 games this season. He started the season with Memphis but only played three games before announcing a short-lived retirement.
He has struggled to recapture his old magic; Iverson said at a Feb. 15 practice that it was emotionally draining to leave his family to play basketball.
Iverson was hobbled by an arthritic left knee and constantly needed it drained. He usually walked gingerly around the locker room after games. His dwindling production didn't bother his fans -- Iverson was voted a starter for the East All-Stars, though he did not play.
Iverson was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1996 draft and spent 10 seasons in Philadelphia before he was traded to Denver in December 2006. He won the MVP in 2001 when he led the Sixers to the NBA finals.
