Report: 49ers accuse Jets of tampering with Crabtree

It looks like Michael Crabtree isn't the only one the San Francisco 49ers are at odds with.

The 49ers have filed a tampering charge against the New York Jets, according to a report in the New York Daily News.


The Jets denied the claims to the paper through a spokesman.
The specifics of the reasoning behind the charge are not yet known.

Crabtree, the 10th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, has yet to come to terms with the 49ers an has threatened to sit out the year and re-enter the 2010 draft.

The Jets, meanwhile, have been searching for a top-flight receiver after failing to land one in the draft.
The 49ers have until Nov. 19 to sign Crabtree. The deadline for trading him is Oct. 20.

Much ado about nothing. In my opinion, Crabtree will just be an average to slightly above average WR in the NFL. Don't know who's giving him advice, but he's stupid to take it. If he sits out the year, he might drop out of the first round next year. All NFL GM's remember what happened to Mike Williams (who was better in college) after he sat out a season.

The 49ers should call his bluff.

We really don't know what kind of Receiver he will be in the NFL.

Not sure why the Jets or any other team fot that manner would waste their time inquring about Crabtree with his action so far.

Let this guy sit out like he's threatened to do, and all teams should stick together and not draft him next year.

That would set an example for all other players who want to play such hard ball....

Crabtree must have more money than brains. Fuck him, let him sit out a year and let him see how much money he makes next year. As far as I am concerned, there is no rookie worth a million dollars, prove yourself first. There needs to be a rookie salary cap.

Maybe there's something to that....I'm too lazy to check, but I thought that all NFL draft choices were basically slotted in to a contract based on their draft position. Maybe I'm thinking of the NBA though.

They are slotted. He wants more than the Raiders paid Heywood-Bey at 1.7. Eugene Parker holds more draft picks out than any other agent.
