Anyone know about the Insurance that they offer? I am renting the biggest truck they offer and driving from South Florida to Missouri. They have a insurance thing that they offer for $85, where it will basically cover evrything for the 5 days I have it. Anyone have any experience with it? I usually decline, but this one has me wondering if I should do it. I recently gave my car to my sister and have no regular insurance for myself. I am in the process of getting a company car and will be covered, but not in place yet.

Pack a couple pounds of good SoFlo hyrdo into some boxes buried deep within the truck and sell it upon arrival in Missouri for $300 an ounce.

That will more than pay for your travel expenses.

I know that wasn't the question you asked, but I'm An Idea Man!

C.P.- Time to make the move, hate all the shit going on down here. Forclosures everywhere, Crime is out of control, Schools are bankrupt, etc.....

Bar- Should I stop by Tampa and pick something up? Moving to Jefferson City, and I dont know about weed, but Meth is huge up there.

I work for Hertz, The coverage they are talking about is the best way to go.... It coverages if you damage the truck in way, moving something in and out of the truck or accident ( doesnt matter whos fault it may be)...
The best part about it is that you dont have to call you insurance co, or pay any out of pocket cost to have the truck fixed.. All you do is fill out a report and it there problem...
So 85 dollars if worth it compared to the headache if anything may happen

ADT, I'm not a supplier any more....just an idea guy

Good weed is always a saleable commodity in any market.

I'm sure street meth is as big there as much anywhere, but frankly there's not that much demand for it anywhere when compared to good pot.

The cannabis consuming community outnumbers the street meth consuming community by at least 100x1....and for quite logical reasons.

Oh....the 85 bones for overall insurance coverage on your cross country trip sounds pretty fair.

Make sure and create a decent inventory list of what's on your load though - seriously. Any claim you might make will require such details.

Sorry to hear that...I wish you well on your move....

On a side note, I live in Illinois and have a second home (winter) in FT. Myers...I have people check on my place in Florida for the reasons you stated above...

Again best of luck and have a safe journey..

ps...doesn't DevilWoman live in Missouri...:drink:

with no insurance on your own car, I'd do it.

Even if you have insurance on your own personal car, it might not transfer over to the moving truck, I would make a call to verify this if you plan on going that route. $85 sounds very reasonable, I would just pony up that and make the trip with peace of mind.

I'd check it for sure, agree !

With no personal car to insure, where is your coverage coming from....a CC ?

I doubt the rental company lets you take the truck w/o some coverage.

What if you drive their truck drunk, and kill a few people, wouldn't Penske be in line for a huge lawsuit ?

Most of us probably aren't used to driving 24' box trucks ( or whatever) as well.

I try to avoid being near rental trucks, RV's with 6 bicycles hanging off the back, and other such vehicles on the interstate.

Ok- guess I will go with the insurance for the piece of mind as i have never driven something so big for so long

Bar- Gonna pass on the delivery since you are of no help:)

CP- I never really thought about making the move from Ft. Myers until about 6 months ago. Things are just really shitty here in my opinion. Everybody seems unemployed and crime is just insane. I got married and do not want to have my family around what ios going on here. Businesses are closing up like crazy. Thank goodness I unloaded the bar I owned when I did as basically the landlord of the strip mall we were in is bankrupt and everyone has to go.

Doug- I was wondering about not having insurance myself (car), but they told me all I need is 2 forms of ID. Seems strange, but hey I am not complaining. I guess moving trucks are different than cars.....

The Buddha..... Yes I know it all too well:drink::drink::drink:! I am actually pretty good friends with the owner and I am very happy they made through the slow time. Hopefully they have an excellent season as this town needs a good live music venue and would really be a shame if they had to close.

Cape- Again, very familiar with it. Cops are very brutal on 47th ter. and the main reason I did not want to open up over there. (looked at the old Mugs and Jugs and also backstreets). I had a place over at Tarpon Point. I really do love this town and hopefully the inventory of houses dries up and it can recapture some of it glory, but I believe it is a good ways away from that and I can not wait any longer. Amazing to me how much this town has been effected by the real estate bust. ( Damn time were good there for awhile.........)

Thanks for the well wishes and best of luck to you sand yours also!

I've driven those trucks for short distances, not exactly a picnic, or like driving something like an F-150, get the insurance, IMO !

You'll have no rear view mirror, and be hitting stuff overhead like tree branches, pretty scary ride, unless you're used to it... I'm not.

Most of us are not professional truck drivers. I don't want to be behind you, while you learn to drive a box truck, no offense.

It really is a small world...

Budha's live music is great....

They got a cute little bargirl named ..Kate...nice girl...

The CAPE and COPS are one in the same....that bridge to/from the CAPE is BRUTAL...they just wait for ya...

I forgot the name of the LARGE Tiki Bar/ Hotel in the CAPE...

a lot of bikers..:think2:

anyway...

""looked at the old Mugs and Jugs and also backstreets""

I remember both of those...spent a lot of time at M & J's..

Where in Tarpon Point was your place....:drink:

Doug- No offense at all, believe you me, I would not want to be behind me either...... Not looking forward to it, but oh well, slow and steady gets the course.

CP- Do not really know of the girl you are talking about as I always go with the wife now...... In Tarpon Pointe, I had one of the first Town Homes they closed on and then I also was one of the MORONS who who bought into the highrise condo. I remember when I closed on it. My price was 727k, appraised at 990k and I had it listed for 675k, with not one bid:( BRUTAL!!!

Was good for a long while though. I was just a little late and I learned my lesson really quick. Had a house on right next to Tarpon Pointe that I bought for 575k and got busted by feds 9 days later. Sold it for 585k ( lost my ass with RE fees), then it sold 9 MONTHS later for 1.1 and then sold for 340k 2 years later. Crazy ass market. Only primary homes for me here forward!

Not too big a deal.

And you do have rear view mirrors - two in fact, one on each side of the truck.

Given the nature of the vehicle, you shouldn't be parking anywhere that requires you to back straight up

==
As for the earlier posed question of whether the lessor (Penske in this case) can be found liable for any criminal act or civil damage done by the lessee while using their vehicle, a careful review of any vehicle-rental contract will show that they are free from all such liability
