Rendell: Obama coverage was embarrassing

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell was supposed to give “closing remarks” during this afternoon’s Shorenstein Center-sponsored panel discussion with all three Sunday show moderators — NBC’s Tom Brokaw, ABC’s George Stephanopoulous and CBS’s Bob Schieffer — but instead, he opened up a can of worms about bias in 2008 election coverage
"Ladies and gentleman, the coverage of Barack Obama was embarrassing," said Rendell, in the ballroom at Denver's Brown Palace Hotel. "It was embarrassing."
Rendell, an ardent Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter during the primaries, now backs Obama in the general election. Brokaw and Rendell began debating campaign coverage, including the on-air comments by Lee Cowan, and when MSNBC came up, Rendell went after the cable network.

“MSNBC was the official network of the Obama campaign," Rendell said, who called their coverage "absolutely embarrassing."
Chris Matthews, Rendell said, "loses his impartiality when he talks about the Clintons.”

At that point, PBS's Judy Woodruff, who was moderating the moderators event, said: "Why don’t we let Governor Rendell sit down."
That was met with applause from the crowd of big-time media figures, which included Arianna Huffington, Gwen Ifill, Al Hunt, and Chuck Todd.
Woodruff allowed Brokaw to respond, and in defending the network, he said that Matthews and Keith Olbermann are "not the only voices" on MSNBC.

Do you suppose Brokaw was agreeing with Rendell in a not so subtle way.

I find it funny that people actually believe that Obama is gonna win. The demcratic party is so divided it's unbelievable. I think the last number I heard was 20% of Clinton supporters are voting for McCain. But yet the libs insist that BHO is gonna win.:think2:

the coverage in general is too much. its turned into paparazzi pretty much. they got guys following the obama's to dinner, etc.

daveinvegas and chocco tocco are the ones standing outside waiting for these guys to do or say something to report on it. not my cup of tea but whatever makes you happy i guess

is it divided because cnn tells you its divided or what. do you have any speaking points for yourself or do you just copy and paste your thoughts like you do all your articles. your mccain so it doesnt matter what people will say, you'll always make it seem like he will win. pointless debating though

There were hard feelings in 1980 with Reagan as well. These things get moved aside when push comes to shove.

MSNBC is a joke. They are far more biased than Fox News actually.

MSNBC was brazen in there chearleading for Barry X. "Fast Eddy" Rendell is right on. Matthews, Overbite & Maddow could not contain their enthusiastic support for the messiah.
The funny part was that being card-carrying lefties they were just as bias toward Obama in the Democrat primary season against Clinton as they have become Obama storm troopers against McCain! You would have thought they would have been less partial to hedge their bets in the Democratic primary season, but not these guys. Very strange!

Women are the most vindictive creatures on earth. Once you get on their shit list you can move up or down but you can never get off. And if you don’t believe me just ask my wife, I’ve been on her list for years.

People are coming to realize that being a street organizer, used by the Cook County Crooks, in center city Chicago to extort money from the deep pocketed institutions is not necessarily a prerequisite for presidential candidates to lean on!

What is with this "community organizer" anyway? He walked around the inner city hoods with a clip board and tried to get people to register to vote. Who cares?

It would surprise me too if Obama won, but it's interesting that all the sportsbooks currently have Obama as the clear favorite.
