Won't be able to post the whole card today. Track is muddy and they'll likely come off turf.
Could be some prices today. Here's my take on the 9th.
race #9 - 7f
... race is wide open if favorite fails
#3 9-5 KOTTONCANDY KISSES - logical, jock/trainer doesn't make a habit of stiffing favorites
#10 20-1 SEBASTIANNA - bomb alert, adds lasix
#12 8-1 YOU ZIP IT
Trainer for #10 SEBASTIANNA (Paul Smith) has been running some bombs over the last few months.
Although none have been at RP, 5 of his last 7 maiden claimers going off at 18:1 and higher have hit the board.
10/15/2019 ZIA race 6 - REBEL LEADER (finished 1st at 29:1) jockey Valdez-Jiminez
10/01/2019 ZIA race 3 - GROUND HOG COUNTY (finished 1st at 18:1) jockey Valdez-Jiminez
08/30/2019 RUI race 5 - BET IT ALL (finished 6th at 30:1) jockey Bencomo
07/26/2019 ALB race 1 - GHOSTLY TWO STEP (finished 2nd at 21:1) jockey Coates
07/14/2019 RUI race 5 - SEBATIAN CAPE (finished 2nd at 27:1) jockey Chavez, Casey
07/13/2019 ALB race 3 - GHOSTLY TWO STEP (finished 4th at 27:1) jockey Sigala
07/05/2019 ALB race 1 - DREAM NURSE (finished 2nd at 21:1) jockey Coates
While I do believe jockey Valdez-Jiminez has alot to do with Smith bomb strikes, Smith has connected with others including:
10/20/2019 ZIA race 2 - JEDI FEVER (finished 1st at 102:1) jockey Coates
Valdez-Jiminez rode SEBASTIANNA in debut last out and finshed up the track in a MSW. SEBASTIANNA gets lasix while dropping into claimers. Today Travis Wales will ride SEBASTIANNA. There is no history between the two. Travis had high win percentage (25%) at Arapahoe Park but is new to Remington Park with just 12 mounts and 1 winner. The 1 winner, however, was 38:1 shot COLD AGENDA on 10/25/2019.
Biggest question to me is why ship to Remington?
Worst case scenario is SEBASTIANNA finishes up the track and ships back to New Mexico with Valdez-Jiminez aboard in next start.
Best case is he goes off long and boosts the exotics.
And just to make sure I cover all bases ... the only first time starter in the race worth inspecting is #6 FFURGIE (30-1). While the pedigree sux and the works are slow, trainer Gleason did score with a first-out maiden claimer at 66:1 at Oaklawn last year. FWIW, trainer does possess fiddler pattern (ROI dramatically improves with odds).
