Former punter Reggie Roby dies

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Former All-Pro punter Reggie Roby died Tuesday at the age of 43.

The Miami Dolphins, whom Roby spent 10 of his 16 NFL seasons, confirmed his passing on their website, but the cause of death is unknown.

Roby was reportedly found unconscious and without a pulse this morning by his wife in the couple's Nashville home. He was immediately taken to the Saint Thomas Emergency Department where he was pronounced dead at 8:35 a.m. (et).

Attended the Univ. of Iowa the same years as Reggie and had many classes with him.

We took the same bus many mornings to classes.

Sad day for entire Hawkeye Nation.

He was a helluva punter who seemed to retire before his time..

I always wondered why he left the game that soon, as he was one of the bigger foots in the game...sad day in sports

I couldn't ever figure that out either J~Man. He could still kick, I don't think he was forced out of the game.........

As I mentioned, I witnessed him once hitting the METRODOME ROOF in pre-game warmups when I was with Iowa.

First big name recruit for Iowa in the Hayden Fry era. Old Thunder Foot will certainly be rememberd, not just recalled.

When at Iowa, the Hawkeyes also used him for kick-offs.

He would routinely split the uprights with his kick-offs.
