Regarding The Politics and World Events Forum.

I am not telling anyone anything they do not know when I say that TheRx.com is a gambling/sports talk forum and was never founded with the idea of attracting web traffic about politics or world events. Somewhere along the line this forum was created solely as a place to put these type of threads only.

There is no sponsor for the forum, no budget for a moderator, and the Rx earns no income by having the forum here.

Personally I could careless what either side of the political spectrum says or calls the other but unfortunately I am hounded by both sides about namecalling and abusive posting perpetrated by the other side. Sure I can ignore it but that is not how this place works so when I get reports that so and so told me to go eff myself in such and such a thread I have to stop what I am doing and deal with it. This is very time consuming (right now I would much rather be watching Sunay Night Football).

With the elections coming up, emotions are running high so I am getting at least half a dozen emails a day in one form (report a post) or another (direct to my email addy) containing these complaints.


My advice to anyone who does not agree with the way I am handling these complaints is to not post in this forum anymore or all of you somehow get together and try to get along while you discuss the various candidates and issues.

Bottom line, I have hardly any time as it is to work in the other forums (some very busy) and still deal with the nonsense that sometimes goes on in this place. That is the reazon for the Zero Tolerance policy.

The next step if this namecalling continues to keep up will be a combining of this forum with the Rubber Room. Totally up to you.

Thats another thing, I am tired of getting accused by both sides of being biased. The truth is everyone is treated equally and get what I think they deserve,

I will admit to giving the benefit of the doubt to old vets like CussinIt, Jinn Rikki, D2bets, Eek and even The RightSide etc. in certain matters over brand new posters who proxy their way in and start trouble. However not allong party lines, it is not about what side you are on regardless of what some people might think. The same thing came up in late 2004.

I would love to and will bring it up tomorrow with my boss and see if he is OK with a Rubber Room North. Probably I will have this forum moved right below the RR until mid November if I let it go to anything goes.

Put up a sticky announcing that:
All complaints about the political forum will be reprinted in the forum for all to see.

That should curtail complaints (people who tattle don't like to be known as tattletales.)

Wil, I have suggested you let it go mostly unmoderated in the past. I might also suggest that people stop running to Wil with complaints. I'm willing to wager that some of the biggest offenders are the biggest crybabies. I also wager that most of the complaints come from a relatively few posters.

As for revenues Wil, this forum does have decent traffic and I'm guessing the traffic here also brings revenue through other forums. However, I don't blame you for not wanting to be in here, especially when everything else is hopping.

Leave us has the RR North. We can weed out everything except spammers.

The real culprit is perceived or real accustions of racisim in one form or another, then comes ordinary name calling.
