Just blew the replay in the KC/Minny game. Minny player was clearly out-of-bounds when he touched the ball.

I used to be a fan of instant-replay. If you have the technology, why not use it to make the right call? HOWEVER, I've seen soooooo many mistakes on the instant-replay this year. No reason to have instant-replay (and slow the game down) if the refs are gonna blow the call anyway.

The NFL instant replay needs to either be modified again or canned! Its amazing how this can be so hard to get it right! For one do away with the 'under the hood' Peepshow! Its a travesty they way it is now!

I agree with what was said. But my guess is that the challenge failed because KC challenged to see if the receiver was out-of-bounds instead of the defender. You can't have the official check every aspect of a play; the team challenging has to declare what they are challenging.

Monicus is correct...the challenge was whether the KC player stepped out of bounds which he DID NOT. They could have seen holding, offsides etc. etc. on the play but I think they have to address the challenge. The challenge was wrong not the call by the refs.

I know, KC challenged whether or not Kennison stepped out of bounds.

But you're telling me that the refs shouldn't have the authority (or awareness) to view other aspects of the replay and make the appropriate ruling?

We're not talking about holding on the other side of the field. We're talking about the Minny player clearly stepping out of bounds before touching the ball.

Actually, he didn't just STEP out of bounds. He was running down the field, 8-10 inches out of bounds!

Nothing new. It should be considered in capping a game these days.

Monicus may be right. Maybe the ref can only overrule the specific claim that is being contested.

No, it doesn't make ANY sense......(if correct)

What I don't understand is why the NFL continues to put up with it. Fine these freakin screw~up (or "fixed") refs just as you would a player when they foul up.......

this same crew was actually fined a few games back for taking too long at looking at the replays, etc.

Ref Fined:

NEW YORK (AP) Referee Tom White was fined $2,600 for failing to restart the clock at the end of the Seattle-Baltimore game, a mistake that contributed to the Seahawks' 44-41 overtime loss.

The fine represented half of White's game check, supervisor of officials Mike Pereira said Wednesday.

The entire crew was reprimanded for its performance during the Nov. 23 game, presumably hurting its chances to officiate in the playoffs. Crews are assigned to the postseason based on their regular-season ratings.

"Maybe they didn't do their part, but we didn't do our part, either," Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said a day after the game.

The play in question occurred with 58 seconds left and Seattle ahead 41-38. The Seahawks' Shaun Alexander gained 3 yards to the Baltimore 33, but head linesman Ed Camp threw a penalty flag because he thought offensive tackle Floyd Womack lined up as an ineligible receiver.

The Ravens called their final timeout but the clock was stopped anyway for the officials to discuss the penalty. They determined Womack was eligible, let the play stand and gave Baltimore back its final timeout.

The Ravens were ready to call timeout again, but White did not restart the clock. As a result, Baltimore saved its timeout until after the plays, saving 40 seconds that it used when it got the ball back to tie a game it eventually won in overtime.

"I don't think we have any cause to be pointing fingers anywhere else," Seahawks linebacker Chad Brown said at the time. "Yeah, the officials blew the call. And we gave up 41 points."

Or the catch that Gonzo had in the 4th qtr that the Chiefs couldn't challange because they used up their challanges. Why can a team only challange twice in a game if one is overturned. Not like the refs ever made 3 bad calls in a game.

that's what I was thinking....I think a team should only get 2 challenges to lose...If they keep winning them, they should be able to continue challenging.

However, in this case, I don't mind cuz I had minnisota on the moneyline

General: Refs are always considered when capping. Is factored in on the home field advantage. What I mean is that the home team will get a higher percentage of the calls than the visiting team. When the home team does not get the calls, that is when you should really be pissed.
