According to Caesars Palace sports book director Chuck Esposito, the Red Sox would be minus $1.40 if they met the Cubs in the World Series. Which team would you take and why? NOTE: AL has the home field advantage because they won the All-Star game.

Obviously it depends on intervening circumstances, particularly how the rotations are set up. All else equal, I think the line would end up being a bit narrower, like Boston -125.

by that I mean no major injuries while getting to the WS by either team. You have to like the Cubs because of their rotation. The Sox drop off dramatically after Pedro, while the Cubbies actually have 4 quality guys, with two (Prior and Wood), in the same class as Pedro. Sure the Sox have a few more bats, but both teams are equally weak in the bullpen. This would be a dream WS for MLB. Not to mention long suffering fans from both cities.

I agree Sherlock,

This match-up would probably get incredible TV ratings, and whom ever wins would get the thumbs up from all.

I'm sure Harry and the Babe will have a side bet.

Nice to see a savy "Sherlock" afficionado. I am sure there are other people here who know the significance of 221B. Baker St. But you are the first person who has made reference to "Holmes" because of the address. Of course the whole thing is elmentary, me friend Glaken, elementary.

Mycroft Holmes, Sherlock's smarter older brother. How could I forget him. I used to watch the old Basil Rathbone movies on late night TV when I was younger (1970's), they seem to have dissapeared. Nigel Bruce played the part of Dr. Watson. Professor Moriarity was the arch-villian. The reason for the address is my old avatar was the one in The Rx. avatar archive of Holmes. I changed it to Pete Clemenza because I am a Godfather fanatic. I actually post in a forum dedicated to the Godfather Trilogy.
