Are you kidding me what a terrible move by the Redsox. They can not win without manny in that lineup. With oritz and manny you have the best righty lefty combo in the game. Without him you have an average lineup at best. The yankees have to be extremely happy. Manny lifetime average against the yankees in the postseason is .450. He is a gamer and no matter what his attitude may have been you can not give up this caliber of a player. I truely believe without him know way would they have won a world series. This guy has a lifetime on base percentage of over .400 are you kidding me. This will go down as the worse trade since babe ruth for the sox. They will not win another world series for years to come. The red sox can not win the series without manny and no way they will make the playoffs without him. The red sox days are over.%^_

You do know Manny wanted out right? And that Theo talked to all the big players and they all agreed that he had to go.. SO yes the Sox had to make this move....

And in a year they can slot Matt Holliday right into that vacated right field position at roughly the same amount they were paying Manny. Rockies too cheap to keep this franchise player and this guys age and abilities will fit perfectly with the Sox.

first of all i think your dead wrong. manny is a good player no doubt, but his numbers have dropped the past 3 seasons. jason bay's numbers this year are right in line with manny's and lets not forget bay is a better defender. you think manny is gonna go to LA in that big park and be a stud? think again. you can quote all the stats you want, the end line is the guy is a talent and has hit behind like you siad one of the best lefthanded hitters in the league. now lets see what bay can do in an actual good lineup.

if u ask me if i would trade manny my asnwer is yes. the kid is a fukin scumbag. he dogs it in the OF, and he sat and took a strikeout to prove a point to management. he is classless. even his own teammates were ready for him to go.

the end line is the guy isnt a 20 million dollar player, so rather then let him go at year end, they pick up jason bay and have a player who they can hope falls in love with boston coming from a shitbox ball club.

and if they aint happy with bay, fine they go sign matt holliday in a year when the rockies cant afford to pay him.

all in all manny ran himself out of boston and his numbers in LA will drop significantly. just watch it play out.

the yankees are going no place.

Well lets see he KILLED in CLE and that is a yard park to rake in, see bays numbers with runners in scoring position?

Yes but has Bay had Pedrioa, Youk, Ortiz, and Lowell in front of him? Might have better RBI numbers now
