then off to NY lester v. pettite.

I'd put $$ on them going below .500 for the month of JULY.

TB has the BIG 3 lined up nicely for this series.

Who would have ever guessed Tampa would have the best record in MLB on June 29. Shocked would be an understatement if the Rays are still there September 29.

Based on history yes, but this is a top 5 talented team in MLB now...

Fun Fact - Red Sox enter this series Monday having won just 14 of their past 54 (14-40) Away games vs Teams in top half of MLB.

This season just 7-16 in that role to tag along with a 7-24 mark in second half of 2007 season.

Bosox are 8-9 this season as a dog, +0.6 units.

18-22 on the road, -6.1 Units.

1-6 in a dome this season, -6.2 Units

Price is unlikely to see the majors until next spring at the soonest.

Rays past few years history with pitchers has been solid and has had most work at least 200 IP in AA/AAA

Could present a good spot for Rays to offer up one of their current rotation in trade during the coming off season.

MEANWHILE....some pretty decent run on local sports radio this past week suggesting the Rays could be close to making a deal with Pittsburgh for Jason Bay. Sending AAA (and two time ML starter this season) Jeff Niemann and solid AAA shortstop prospect Reid Brignac to the Pirates in exchange.

heh....

Yeah, they've made their hay in recent times by winning about 70% at Home (56 wins) and winning 50% Away (41 wins) with the road numbers being solid success against bottomhalf teams and meager success vs tophalf teams.

Not all that unusual a recipe for any team, but when you're being priced at just +120 to being a small road fave in such roles vs tophalf teams, it can create some good Fades

I'll be on Tampa Bay to win this series. The only game where I'd personally look at Boston if I were to bet each game individually is game 1 with Masterson on the mound. I love Shields, but Masterson is a stud and who knows what will happen with Shields facing the Sox again, especially if Crisp is in the lineup.

Games 2 and 3 should go to TB pretty easily though, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a sweep.

Umpires should hand out duel warnings to both benchs while the lineups are being exchanged.

Wakefield will draw some money he is 19-3 3.16 career vs Tampa.

I cant see them being much of a dog there. Maybe very small. All 3 games are winnable for either team.

Tampa has been rock solid at home this year, the 3 game sweep of the Cubs should show you all you needed to see.

Wakefield also has been awful his last few starts vs tampa. Back in April i applied the theory of how good he was IN Tampa and domes, and Boston got beat. Goes to show this is a totally different Tampa team, throw all those records out from the past.

I'm getting kind of nervous about this now. Are we over hyping it. My step brother lives in the Tampa area he has been talking smack non stop to me on IM. Please socker bockers take this series so I dont have to listen to him anymore.

But, the realist in me thinks Tampa takes it 2-1.

As a sports fan/bettor I have seen this kind of hype many times which makes me think Red Sox sweep.
