The Sox have nothing to be worried about when it comes the Yankees. Not a chance they catch up for the wild card. Only way they get knocked out is if the Twins and Chi Sox both make the playoffs.

The Sox have an outside chance to catch the Rays because of the remaining schedule. They play each other 6 times in September starting next Monday at Fenway for 3 games and then in Tampa for 3 games starting Sep 15th. I admit the chances they catch Tampa are slim but do exist. The real race as mentined is between Boston and the AL Central loser (with the Yanks still alive barely) for the AL Wild card.
