I went to the game Sunday, I was surprised how tame the philly fans where. I had never been to that ball park and heard so much about the philly fan.

I am from Boston and live in baltimore and travel the country going to a ton of ball parks and YES!! I admit the Boston fans are abnoxious. The ones in their early 20's mostly drunk idiots give us a bad name.

That explains it perfectly. And it's "obnoxious" not "abnoxious" LOL.

Boston is drunk 24/7, we love to get rowdy, and we love to pick fights...

Let me tell you a story about Red Sox fans...i was in boston 2003 for a few days to attend A seminar arrived the day of game 5 checked into the hotel went to the bar had my NYY hat on the bartender walks over and says ha!!! a yankees fan...where are you from? Told him PA and he treated me like I had 2 heads. So anyway it comes down to game 7 sox were up late in the game I'm in the bar again and he says to me ..."how do you like your chances now yankee fan?" I told him that the sox were setting themselfs up for another heartbreaker he laughed and walked away...so game gets tied about 15 sox fans in the bar and me, boone comes up and he hits the ball and I swear it wasn't even over the left fielders head yet and everyone picked up and walked out did not finish food drinks nothing...was funnist shit I ever saw, I asked where everyone went bartender had nothing to say. So next the post game show comes on and they go to an old guy sportscaster and he starts rambling about how Wakefield should never have been put in that position to lose the game because he pitched so great in previous starts and he keeps going on and on until he finally gets so worked up that he says I can't even talk about this any more and he drops the mic and just walks away. Next morning gettin ready to go to class watching the news and the traffic guy in the helocopter says either today is a holiday that we don't know about or everyone is moarning the sox loss because there is hardly a car on the highway. Last but not least...the 1st day of class we get to the NFPA headquarters there are 4 flag poles out front 3 had american flags 4th had a red sox flag they were there everyday until that friday morning we got there at 7 am and I looked up and the red sox flag was replaced with another american flag...never met a bunch of wacko people in my life like i did up there in those few days.

Take that, GQ

Posted by Eric Wilbur, Boston.com Staff March 23, 2011 07:28 AM

Phillies and Red Sox fans, recently classified by GQ Magazine as among the worst in all of sports, got a little redemption this week when a survey measuring a variety of factors, including on-field success, fan intensity, and, presumably, the ability to create cringe-worthy anthems, named them among the most loyal. In fact, Boston fans of each of the four sports surveyed wound up in the Top 5 for their respective leagues, including a No. 1 ranking for New England Patriots fans in the NFL.
According to Bloomberg, "New York-based Brand Keys Inc. compiled the 19th annual Sports Loyalty Index by surveying 250 fans in each team's market and assessing the data." The Phillies, Yankees, and Red Sox fans finished 1-2-3, followed by Giants and Dodgers fans. However, it was a two-spot drop for the property of Fenway Sports Group (formerly, New England Sports Ventures, formerly the Boston Red Sox), which had finished in the top spot the previous two years.
The survey "helps professional sports teams increase their broadcast, ticket and merchandise revenues by providing the precise loyalty rankings of fans in the home (and national) market." Pats fans finished ahead fans of the NFL's Steelers, Colts, Packers, and Jets. Celtics fans finished fourth in the NBA, while Bruins fans finished fifth.
Canadiens fans did not finish in the Top 5.
