1-0 on GOY's.

A few weeks ago I was set to post a GOY on Ole Miss when they played South Carolina, but the late news on McKinley returning to the line-up and Garcia getting a shot at QB forced me to bail.

Not bailing today. The Auburn Tigers are imploding, and the Ole Miss Rebels are much better than their record indicates and at some point they are going to prove just that. Motivation? Ole Miss has not beaten Auburn in Oxford since 1992. Auburn has won 8 of the last 10 meetings. Tuberville, who caused chaos when he lied and snuck in the darkness from Mississippi to Auburn, returns to the school who gave him his 1st job with his worst team since 1999.

More Motivation? Houston Nutt was known for taking his Arkansas teams to Auburn and whipping their tail. The news of Auburn going back to "old style" Offense must have him licking his chops. He's always been able to stop it. Ole Miss has lost their last 2 games at home by 7 points or less. They will be in an ill mood to ensure that the record does not go to 3. The key element to losses has been turnover ratio. Ole Miss is 103rd. Fix that problem in games and they win. Also, keep in mind that Enrique Davis, who originally signed with Auburn and abandoned them when they announced the Spread, has a little motivation himself to do well and is getting more and more reps.

Statistically across the board, Ole Miss is solid in every single area other than Turnovers and Passing Defense. Enter Auburn's QB Kodi Burns. Auburn's Passing Offense is 106th in the Country. Burn's has looked terrible as a passer and is coming off his best looking performance in a 17 point loss. Injuries on both sides of the ball for Auburn have impacted their depth. They simply do not have any athletes to break big plays and expose Ole Miss's only weakness.

Tuberville, under fire, got to read articles from a prominent BOT this week saying that Tuberville "would have to make staff changes at the end of the season". Funny thing is.....after Jetgate with Petrino, Tuberville, contractually, is "supposed" to have complete control of hirings and firings. You must ask yourself at this point where Tommy's mind is after having several successful seasons (at least from an Auburn perspective) only to have the dogs turn on him in 1 year.

Bottom line here is the guys in charge of the Auburn Offense are not very good at what they do. There is not harmony with the coaching staff nor the team. Auburn plays on emotion every week to start games and fizzles on talent and coaching. Ole has plenty to prove here. They need a home win to thrust them into the better record they deserve. They have an aggressive front 7 on defense, and a solid QB and running game. They are the better team.

Ole Miss -6 (-120)
