Would probably be a pretty good gig for a network to host ... the Travel Channel played the 2003 World Series of Poker ten times a day for a while there; somebody must have been watching it.
Only problem is -- would networks in the U.S. have the balls to show it? Maybe it could be an H.B.O. original series or something.

Not a good reality idea:
1) gold64 just wants a 50K free roll.
2) most likely everyone would zero out before reaching 1-million
3) the reality shows are based upon people interacting, not a camera pointed at someone and his computer screen. BORING!!!
4) Most people would not be able to follow DonBest screen, computer sports plays, etc. Show need to be understandable to most of population (like wildbill said, just the sick ones here)
5) A better show would be the "behind the scenes with the sportsbook owners". They put on a great front to the players, but behind the scenes, many are as dishonest and degenerate as they come. A few good ones exist, but very few.

I actually do think it would be a good idea. I can't get the World Series of Poker thing out of my head, how that one show about a single poker tournament (yes, a really big one, but still) got played over and over and over for months. Put it on an adult network like HBO or Playboy TV and have the players physically hanging out with one another, bulshitting in some titty bar or other joint. The inevitable bragadoccio and probably bizarrely contrasting personality types would captivate the average television viewer (after all,it is the average television viewer that brought us Fear Factor and Trading Spaces and that retarded Animal Face-Off.)
It probably would go over; it's just the $50k to $1 million premise that would need working on. Maybe tourney style with the bottom player eliminated each week until there was only one remaining (in profit.)

Great idea Phaedrus, I think the playoff format sounds an improvement also, as it would keep the pace & pressure on, & prevent possible stall tactics by some waiting to see if others go backwards, then have eased pressure to build roll quickly(ala WSOP's roll races).
Maybe put in use-it-or-lose it clauses, where if others go bust, you don't have but a certain time-window to get to the million, otherwise you only keep 30 % of your existing roll?
The new gambling network may do something like this idea, as it has been mentioned as an idea for them in a previous thread.

It would work; as I originally wrote I'd want to produce it.
I wouldn't want to play on it; because there is absolutely no way I'd let the whole world know all the analysis I do handicapping. Plus, I've been around to long and know how everyone loves you when you're winning, but a few losing days, and you've become the village idiot to those same eyes.
