can't hurt, you need at least 6 months to get your feet wet and develop leads-buyers are a rare breed these days and sellers are being bombarded...so you need the time to get your name out there...

If you do decide to get into real estate it's all about getting your systems in place...most agents have no clue what to do and how to drum up business which is why the majority of realtors are broke or have to get another job...I really don't consider it a sales job, it's more in the marketing and customer service field because its all about making your phone ring.

Disclosure: I have an RE license

It all depends on your state. Some states have a long process for getting a license, others do not. So, if you want to start now (because it takes a year) then yes, you should get going on it.

In my case, there were some laws changing in my state that would triple the time requirements to get a license. So, I got in just under the deadline, took the exam, and got my license in a fraction of the time it takes now.

Your first call/website should be the DRE in your state to find out what the requirements are.

Yeah...when I got my license in WV, I had my RE class in May and had my license by the middle of June...but when I moved to FL class ended beginning of August but didn't get my license until Feb...FL kept screwing everything up

In Florida it is simple to get your RE license. I dont know if I would say it is a good time to get in or not, but if you want to, it is simple!!

I have 3 friends who can not become teachers (not that they want to). but can get a license to sell a person a multi-million dollar house. Strange state/country I live in.

That's the beauty of RE. You can be a total numbnuts and still make a million dollars at it . . . NES, I'm looking in your general direction.
