Before the 80's, conservatives in government did a weird thing they actually did not spend more than they collected in taxes.Roll in the Reagan revolution and "trickle down economics". This idea that tax cuts alone will spur economic growth has become an ideology more than a promise. Hence Dick Cheney on Meet the Press in 2002 "defecits don't matter".Granted, trickle down economics was an answer to the massive welfare state of the 70's, the government was supposed to take in more revenue in the end..............it did not happen.
My point is that this country can no longer afford to keep running massive defecits while conducting two expensive wars and giving economic aid all over the globe.When either candidate tells us that we can keep going this way without raising taxes..........they are both liars.hno:

Government Spending that is virtually impossible to get under control. Every single spending project and government outfit in this country gets automatic increases in spending each year. It takes new votes to slow down increases and if anybody stands up and tries to do that they get lambasted by Democrats and the media.. Remember the House GOP trying to slow down the rate of increase of the free school lunch programs in the 90s? They were screaming to high and using little kids as props on Capital Hill and saying the GOP wanted to starve them!

Thanx for replying...........Look the more we sell Tbonds the more interest will go up on said bonds the more the dollar value will decrease. Self destructing policy if you ask me. A treasury bond is essentially a piece of paper stating that the american dollar (economy) will be worth something in the future, right now the outlook is bleak. The Fed has put the interest rates on TBonds at an all time high. If the Dems had been in charge the past 8yrs I would blame them........just being realistic.
