Just more educated people telling Republicans that they are dumb and that climate change is real.

It's just pathetic when politics are so damning that if a Republican comes out and agrees with climate change they will be seen as a liberal and most likely kicked out of the conservative cult. It's impossible for rational Republicans to act rational with the current party. Just sickening to watch. Man made global warming isn't even an argument in the academic world. It's simply relegated to oil companies and conservatives. Really sad when science takes a backseat to politics. Has happened many times in history especially people who went against common Religious beliefs.

The sad thing is the core of the nut job conservatives who don't believe in science are still going to be with us for 20+ years. Hopefully the next generation will be more intelligent and conservatives can come up with some excuse to claim that they believed in Global Warming all along. Because we know they aren't going to admit they were wrong. Just embarrassing.

Here are some really solid quotes...

"We have a scientific consensus around this issue. We also need a political consensus," said Christine Todd Whitman, the former New Jersey Governor and first EPA administrator under President George W. Bush

"There are Republicans that believe the climate is changing and humans have a role to play. They just need some political cover,"

"Inherent in all of these problems was uncertain science and powerful economic interests resisting controls. The same is true of climate change," said Ruckelshaus, who also led the agency under Reagan. "In all of the cases cited, the solutions to the problems did not result in the predicted economic and social calamity."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Top environmental regulators for four Republican presidents told Congress on Wednesday what many Republican lawmakers won't: Action is needed on global warming.

In a congressional hearing organized to undermine Republican opposition to President Obama's environmental proposals, Senate Democrats asked the heads of the Environmental Protection Agency for Richard Nixon, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan to discuss the risks from climate change and what should be done about it. Some Republicans dispute the science of climate change and have worked to unravel Obama's steps to address it.

Action on Capitol Hill — where even a bland, bipartisan energy efficiency bill couldn't get passed in May — has been in a deep freeze.

"We have a scientific consensus around this issue. We also need a political consensus," said Christine Todd Whitman, the former New Jersey Governor and first EPA administrator under President George W. Bush, who resigned her post after disagreeing with the White House's direction on pollution rules.

Whitman was joined by William Ruckelshaus, the nation's first EPA administrator under President Richard Nixon, William Reilly, who led the EPA under President George H.W. Bush, and Lee Thomas, who was administrator under Reagan.

The strategy by Democrats was reminiscent of other high-profile hearings on climate change that created fanfare but resulted in little action. In March, Democrats staged an all-nighter on the Senate floor to talk climate change. In 2009, former Vice President Al Gore and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich sparred before a House committee over climate change. Climate scientist James Hansen in 1988 told the Senate the planet is warming and pollution is to blame.

The EPA chiefs' testimony apparently did little to bridge the divide. Coal miners packed the hearing to protest a new EPA plan to cut carbon dioxide pollution from power plants. Before any testimony, top Republicans on the Senate environmental panel said the rule would kill jobs for no environmental benefit.

That view contrasted sharply with the opinions of the four EPA administrators, who said the Obama administration had worked hard to make the proposal flexible and workable, using authority provided by Congress.

The former EPA administrators told lawmakers that global warming was similar to other serious environmental issues they confronted, such as industrial pollution, dangerous pesticides or water contamination. But tackling those issues enjoyed broad public support.

"Inherent in all of these problems was uncertain science and powerful economic interests resisting controls. The same is true of climate change," said Ruckelshaus, who also led the agency under Reagan. "In all of the cases cited, the solutions to the problems did not result in the predicted economic and social calamity."

The four EPA chiefs also said that they are not alone in the Republican party.

"There are Republicans that believe the climate is changing and humans have a role to play. They just need some political cover," said Whitman, in an interview before the hearing.

Reilly was even more direct.

"There is a lot happening on climate," he said, citing efforts by states and corporations to tackle the problem. "It's just not happening in Washington."

Hahaha! Very true. Luckily the military invented the computer and Internet. Imagine if Republicans knew the govt was spending billions of dollars on a machine the size of a garage that did simple calculations. They would have a Solyndra style hissy fit, lol. But they are more than happy spending a trillion dollars building a democracy in Iraq, lol. It's hilarious grown adults have to be told what to think by their masters.

Loser!@#0

Laugh out loud funny.

She has no relevant scientific education or knowledge. She is a politician.

Of course the resident scientific illiterate quotes politicians when it comes to science.

:):)

Uh, you have precisely zero exposure to the "academic world" since you are a laughable dumb ass who posts lies here day after day and works an IT help desk.

PS: the climate models that governments base policy decisions on have failed miserably.

Maybe the video dumb ass has a video for that?

A tribute to the GOP (GROUP OF PUTZ).

In 2008, Al Gore boldly declared that “the entire North ‘polarized’ cap will disappear in 5 years.” ( In fact, the ice cap in the Arctic actually got larger last year.)

Al Gore:
“The interior of the earth is extremely hot – several million degrees.”

Oh, and:

Lead author, Dr Pierre Dutrieux, from British Antarctic Survey (BAS) said: “We found ocean melting of the glacier was the lowest ever recorded, and less than half of that observed in 2010. This enormous, and unexpected, variability contradicts the widespread view that a simple and steady ocean warming in the region is eroding the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. These results demonstrate that the sea-level contribution of the ice sheet is influenced by climatic variability over a wide range of time scales.

Watching you absolute morons comment on this topic is embarrassing.

every prediction made by the man made climate change propaganda machine has been wrong

not one of their cataclysmic predictions have come true to date, as in batting zero zero zero

polar ice should already have melted, polar bears nearly extinct, shorelines disappeared, every hurricane season was going to be like 2005 (Katrina + a record high 15 hurricanes) and getting worse, rising temperatures.............................

wrong about each and every prediction, proven and documented frauds, do what we say and not what we do hypocrites and yet they still act like intellectual superiors when it's the dumbest of the dumb that put them over the top

yep, liberals rock the world and know what's best, that's why they own the high school drop outs, the poorest of the poor and they accuse the republicans of being the party that represents the successful & wealthy people. We all know success and wealth and higher incomes are the byproducts of ignorance

something is messed up in their minds

When future generations try to understand how the world got carried away around the end of the 20th century by the panic over global warming, few things will amaze them more than the part played in stoking up the scare by the fiddling of official temperature data. There was already much evidence of this seven years ago, when I was writing my history of the scare, The Real Global Warming Disaster. But now another damning example has been uncovered by Steven Goddard’s US blog Real Science, showing how shamelessly manipulated has been one of the world’s most influential climate records, the graph of US surface temperature records published by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Goddard shows how, in recent years, NOAA’s US Historical Climatology Network (USHCN) has been “adjusting” its record by replacing real temperatures with data “fabricated” by computer models. The effect of this has been to downgrade earlier temperatures and to exaggerate those from recent decades, to give the impression that the Earth has been warming up much more than is justified by the actual data. In several posts headed “Data tampering at USHCN/GISS”, Goddard compares the currently published temperature graphs with those based only on temperatures measured at the time. These show that the US has actually been cooling since the Thirties, the hottest decade on record; whereas the latest graph, nearly half of it based on “fabricated” data, shows it to have been warming at a rate equivalent to more than 3 degrees centigrade per century.

When I first began examining the global-warming scare, I found nothing more puzzling than the way officially approved scientists kept on being shown to have finagled their data, as in that ludicrous “hockey stick” graph, pretending to prove that the world had suddenly become much hotter than at any time in 1,000 years. Any theory needing to rely so consistently on fudging the evidence, I concluded, must be looked on not as science at all, but as simply a rather alarming case study in the aberrations of group psychology.

^^^^^^

so now they adjust numbers to make it work for them, as opposed to using actual numbers

they've falsified studies, a documented fact

they've discard evidence that doesn't support their positions, a documented fact

they never discuss the earth's heating and cooling cycles of 2 billion years

they predicted global cooling as recently as the late 1970's (where are those guys now? I bet some of them are now predicting man made global warming too)

it seems like they do everything but practice real science

they can't predict the weather a few days out, yet they want us to believe they can predict cataclysmic man made climate change, despite the fact that every prediction for every year that passed was wrong without exception

real science provides studies and results to prove one's hypotheses, something they find necessary to adjust

and real science addresses and debunks all evidence that doesn't support their hypotheses, something they simply choose to ignore or discard or misrepresent as they do their own findings

again, the climate is changing, as been for 2 billion years

the earth has been warming, although not so much more recently, for 17,000 years

and finally, with the earth's population doubling in the last 15 or so years and worldwide energy consumption doubling in that time frame, with the use of combustible energy sources flying off the charts in that time frame given the population growth and industrial advances in China and India, how could the rate of increase in temperatures have slowed? Given all the arguments libtard nation and their scientific sources have given us, how is that plausible?

I know, I know, I'm an ignorant man in libtardville, they be knowing hows to read the headlines, and their supreme leader be saying so too, so there you have it

Yeah it is.

It is funny how these "unexpected" events keep happening in the real world despite the theory being a "fact"

More self-righteous, self-serving, arrogant, ignorant, hypocritical politicians telling Americans how to live.

The dream among the 'progressive' ruling class is to "fundamentally transform" the American people from citizens into subjects.

The EPA tops the list of Fedzilla goon agencies which should be eviscerated the next time real conservatives gain power. The EPA's land grab seeking to redefine what bodies of water fall under the agency's jurisdiction which would threaten farmers ability to build fences, dig ditches, drain ponds etc., is the latest example of 'green' tyranny gone rogue.

And of course the usual left wing ignoramuses are clapping like the retarded seals they are.
