The Ravens appear to be serious about catching the Chargers and Colts at the top of the AFC. Looks like they have already passed Pittsburgh, New England, Tennessee and Denver as far as expectations go. The Jets are the mystery team that could end up anywhere from 8th to 1st when the 2010 AFC playoffs come around.
I am not sure if the Jets' acquisition of Antonio Cromartie is that big a deal. He had a breakthrough season in 2007 but since then has been pretty ordinary IMHO. A third round pick (with a chance to go to 2nd rounder if he plays well) is not saying a lot for him.
He has seven children by six different women in five different states. I know that shoudn't effect his play but it says something about his lifestyle.
He has to clear up all of his paternity issues. He is reportedly at least $25,000in arrears in child support and has been slapped with five paternity suits in the past two seasons.
Cromartie when asked about his dropoff in play the past two seasons: "In 2007 (when he had an NFL-high 10 INTs), I played a lot more man-to-man and bump-and-run. In 2008, I was injured. Last year, early on in the season I had a pretty good year. But I played a lot of off-coverage (which he didn't like). I just do what the coaches ask me to do.''
On his infamous missed tackle on Jets RB Shonn Greene's 53-yard TD in the playoffs (see photo above): "It's something I should've made the play on. I was there to make a tackle for a three- or four-yard gain and it didn't happen. It (tackling) is something I have to work on.''
Good luck Rex Ryan..
