jake, you also realize they have Bynum coming back as well? and thats only going to help they're interior d.

Yea if he makes it back... But still, I think Bynum is about as overrated a defender as there is in the game. He's blocking a good amount of shots but still has alot of work to do and will be slow coming back from the injury. He's getting better but in my opinion, he's not even close to ready and would get abused by Tim Duncan in the playoffs. He's an average defender at this point, but if you ask a Laker fan they'll tell you he's a cross between Bill Russell and Abdul-Jabbar. Blatant homerism. I just don't see Bynum as anything more than maybe a slightly above average center with a ton of potential to be excellent in a year or two.

West:
--Lakers
--Spurs
--Rox
--Jazz
--Suns
--Hornets
--Mavs
--Nugs/Warriors

East:
--Pistons
--Cavs
--Celtics
-- 4-8, who cares.

On a separate thought, where would the Best Team from the EAST be ranked if they were in the WEST?

I'd put the Celtics at #5 and Pistons at #7.

it's pretty simple guys.

Not saying anyone is right or wrong, but I still haven't heard anyone tell me who the last team to play average at best defense and win the championship was...

Top defensive teams win in the playoffs year after year. In my opinion, Lakers fans are delusional if they think that Bynum returning is going to make them a top defensive team. The kid has alot of work to do to become a good defender.

but amare is prolly their 2nd worst defender. teams have had no problem penetrating with him their now. i dont see that changing just cuz shaqs their. A team like the lakers will pick them apart.pau 15 feet out will pull amare away from the hoop. bynum healthy will keep shaq occupied and you have the same problem of an open lane.

with all these crazy good teams trading their way to excellence before the deadline, anyone else see a Piston/Spurs final?

Yep, you guys are right. They will sorely miss Kwame Brown come playoff time. :tongue2:

I couldn't agree more Cleo. Manu is playing out of his mind lately, and I dont see any reason why he won't continue to dominate.

This guy is the epitome of 'clutch'.

I'm out of this thread, but I'd like to take one parting shot...

Lakers' fans = The biggest homers in the world

Also, Lakers' fans = Biggest bandwagoners in the world

Not saying that about the folks posting here necessarily, but just as a whole.

And with that, I'm out. See you folks come playoff time. Blam!

Wow. You think adding Gasol and losing Brown will basically will get them better offensively but hurt them so bad on D that the trade is useless.

Even thou Gasol will have to guard the weaker offensive player in the post... So his D will not be exploited...

Shaq and Amare down low will kill off the issues with penetration that Nash's shoddy defense allows. Their main issue was penetration and with those two guys down low, that issue will soon be gone.

Shaq will play 25 min a game. There D will be a tad bit better with him in there... But there offense will suffer... The time he is out it will be the same crap D as always...

Use some consitency when doing your ranking or please stop...

Wait one more parting shot. I don't hate Kobe really and think he's an excellent player... but this still makes me laugh.

Go Knicks!

Lol Jake.

I'm not sure your real intention when creating this thread was to Rank the teams. It seems more like you are more interested in where the Lakers should be ranked.

I'm no Lakers homer by any stretch, but I've been watching this team closely for the past month or so, and they are white hot... and will only get better as they run toward the playoffs.

Lakers are scary good....what makes it worse is how much officiating help they get at home.

Pistons can matchup with ANYONE at ANYTIME in the league. Again ZERO chance they are 7th in the west. I hope you don't bet the NBA much.

28-8 in Eastern Conference games: 78% winners

13-7 in Western Conference games: 65% winners

Against the top 6 Western Conference teams:

6-7: 46%

this can't be accurate. they play each team from the West twice, so how would there be 13 games from the 6 teams? i don't have to look up anything, but I know they whooped Phoenix yesterday, whooped the Spurs on national tv (in san antonio), blew out the Mavs on national tv, blew out the Rockets, beat the Lakers.....and this is all off the top of my head.
so you have argued that the Lakers aren't a top 5 west team, and now saying the Pistons can't play with anyone? the Pistons can play with anyone in the league. these are Facts that you are arguing against...thats the humor in all of this.

FACT: Lakers are a top 5 team in the west.

FACT: Pistons can play with any team in the NBA.
