Soemthing u rarely see...

The #1 team in ncaa basketball is getting 5 points tonight, as they travel to Champagne to face the Illini......

Before i saw the line, i was leaning to Illinois, but i figured it would be about a PK, but no, Illinois is decent favorite in the game.....

Should be one of the best games early in this year, and very important as far as seedings come later in the year......

Wins like this, really complete the resume when the committee is looking for top seeds..........

Good Luck tonight, whichever side you are on...

Think i am still leaning towards the Illini, but 5 is alot to give the number #1 team..

You are correct sir....

However not even the home court will be enough to help my Hoosiers tonight...

They get beat by 20+ unfortunately.......

Our best players are just too young right now, and we have some good ones coming next year....this will be our last mediocre year for awhile........

Look out Big Ten......

Mike Davis=John Kerry......a few years ago after Kentucky beat Indiana (again), Mike Davis declared "help is on the way". Unfortunetly, Coach Davis is "on the way" out after this yr. Sorry Brent. Hope you guys pull off a big one tonight. Don't like the Heels either.

in your heart, you know i'm right

The HOME COURT is worth alot in the BIG TEN
Home court at Illinois............................

Well its nice to be at home that is for sure beats a neutral court or a road game.

But the home court at Illinois is about the most overrated home court advantage in college basketball.

I went to school there for 5 years and saw the Flying Illini (Gill, Battle, Anderson, etc and then the Marcus Liberty years and stuff)

The arena is so big (I think its the largest concrete roofed structure in the country or some such distinction) and the fans so far away (slight slope to the seating not rafters, or layers) that there is not the same noise and intensity level as other Gyms in the big ten. ITs NOTHING like Williams Arena for example. ITs not CRAZY wild in that place and not noisy. Also it takes big bursts of team energy to get the crown going. And takes a guy running around with a Illini Flag to get people up and yelling and screaming usually during time outs. Im a huge Illini fan that is for sure but they are not a great home team and do not have a great home court advantage like some other teams. That is one of the reasons they are not higher ranked each year they do not defend the home court like most other top teams. I like Wake tonight plus 6 at Skybook with the free 1/2 point.

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

Its up to 5.5....there is no difference between a #1 and a #5 anyway...especially on Dec 1st.

I swear I am the biggest sucker for points you've ever met. I take them all the time. I had to here as well.

This type of scenario used to be a play back in the 60's and 70's. Many schools played in real bandboxes - West Virginia comes to mind as one of the last ones. Well even though they were never highly ranked many of these bandbox schools were favorites at home most of the time although only small favs against ranked teams. The play was whenever a top 25 ranked team came into an unranked team's gym and was getting points then - lay the points on the unranked home team. With the advent of all the new stadium college basketball teams play in this type of thing is now very rare.

Duke must still feel like a bandbox...I hate betting against Duke at home, hell I get nervous just seeing the crazies jumping up and down all game!

Nice Foul Shooting By the Spartans last night blowing the cover!
