ND may be pretty darn good, maybe the sleeper of the year with respect to the NC, we know Chip Kelly is great

Penn St is now two years removed from O'Brien, I think they're tailing off again

I forgot how great Arkansas was to finish last year, team to watch

I forgot how much I loved the BYU QB Hill last year before he went down, another good value team early on

the gap between the conferences (power vs non-power) is closing

there's really just one conference that stands above the rest, the SEC

B10 and especially the B12 may be a tad bit over-hyped to start the season (I'm not hating, just don't think TCU and Baylor are two of the top four teams in the game)

A few observations from this week’s games:

TCU – only scored 23 points – Boykin accounted for 75% of the Horns total offense but Minn held their own – TCU ranked #12 on Steele’s experience chart and Minn #53

Penn St – their OL is their problem – Penn St returned 8 on offense and 7 on defense – Temple ranked #8 on Steele’s experience chart and Penn St #56. Temple played with great enthusiasm the whole game.

N. Carolina – QB Marquise Williams threw 3 Int’s including 2 in his own end zone to end drives

Nebraska – losing with a game ending Hail Mary under new HC Riley is a tough way to start the season

Wisconsin ranked #85 on Steele’s experience chart and Alabama #124 (our of 128). Alabama completely dominated the game. Shocking that ‘Bama outrushed the Badgers 238 to 40. Bama is good on both sides of the ball and will do nothing but get better as the season progresses.

Oklahoma St ranked #48 on Steele’s experience chart and Central Mich #75. The Cowboys managed to win 24-13 but their defense has a ways to go and better improve before conference play or they are in trouble.

Texas managed only 103 yds passing and 60 yds rushing against a solid ND team. ND was impressive and their home game in week 3 against Georgia Tech will tell the tale. They travel to Virginia on week 2. Meanwhile Texas has a ways to go to say the least. Steele ranked them #33 in his preseason picks. I think they will have trouble even scoring 33 lol. If they lose at home to Cal on week 3 a huge cloud will hang over Austin for the rest of the season.

Ohio ranked #6 in Steele’s experience chart and did pretty well in their opening game on the road favored by only 7 points and winning by 17. They get Marshall at home on week 2 and Marshall plays a Sunday game and then has to travel.

Hawaii beat Colorado and QB Wittek offset 2 int’s with 3 TD throws. Hawaii’s punter, Sanchez, punted 9 times averaging 44yds a punt.

Texas A&M exceeded expectations big time. I picked them as one of my surprise teams and they even surprised me lol. They had a balanced attack and their defense under new DC Chavis held Arizona St to 17 points while the Aggie offense came through with 21 4[SUP]th[/SUP] qtr points.

Stanford was a big disappointment coming into their season opener ranked #7 in Steele’s preseason poll. Stanford has 22 seniors in their 2 deep and an experienced QB in Kevin Hogan. Hogan winds up throwing for a whopping 155 yds as his OL struggled big time. Meanwhile NW played error free ball and Stanford had 2 TO’s.
……………………………………
The following teams were ranked in the AP top 25 and lost outright: Wisconsin, Stanford, Arizona St and Boise St won a game ending Hail Mary.
……………………………………
There are some games coming up on week two which are some very tough road games for those making the trips: Minn @ Col St, N Dame @ Virginia, Oklahoma @ Tenn, Marshall @ Ohio, Kentucky @ S Carolina, Oregon @ Mich St, Temple @ Cinn, LSU @ Miss St, and Boise St @ BYU.

I'd hold judgement on ND as Texas is just putrid. Been telling folks for awhile that something's not right in Austin.
Keep an eye on Texas A&M. They got their stud QB into the game early and he added a new dynamic to their offense. And their defense atleast for 1 game seemed improved.
Keep an Eye on USC out west. Arkansas St returned quite a few starters, especially on offense and SC held them to 6 points.
Penn St losing to Temple in Philly was stunning as they don't seem to be able to block anyone.
Very surprised with Stanford. I know it was an early start but it might be time to go with a new look at QB as Hogan does not seem to be the guy.
I want to get home and watch the Bama game. I saw the scores and was surprised it was that close late into the game.

Was at the ASU/A&M game and was on the field prior. A&M is finally filling their roster with SEC calibur size. I want to get home and see the game again just because it's a different view live, but the Aggies defense looked MUCH better. They will give SEC teams fits.

Bama's special teams still sucks
Pitt has very strong RB and Oline but even Narduzzi can't fix a defense devoid of talent
Orangebloods and JbWronghorn should be starting up the "Saban to Texas" rumors by Wednesday
Oregon can sleepwalk through the P10 North
Everyone can now cash their Kansas u1.5 wins ticket
Hackenberg announced he is officially withdrawing from the 2015 Heisman race...Phil Steele and Mel Kiper must be notified
Akron's starting QB did not have a completion at Oklahoma but will throw for 375 vs Pitt
The SEC West has won 43 straight out of conference regular season games. last loss 9/21/13

1. Shocked at home there seemed a lack of fire in Penn St team; almost like they gave up; in first g of season.
2. SEC might be on a mission this year after poor bowl season.
3. It really matters the quality of Dic II; whoops ; cd team ya play; stay away from the dakotas; play howard, etc.
4. Look for South Carolina Gamecocks to come out strong at Home against KY.

gl..even when a college fb game sucks; it's still 100% better than no game..!!

Two teams that vastly improved themselves without players.......A&M with John Chavis at DC and UNC with Gene Chizik at DC. Everyone is harping on the UNC Offense, but damn.....just like A&M, they might not have to outscore teams to Win, and its happened overnight for both. A&M has some talent on D.......they are going to be dangerous.

- Looks like UCLA frosh QB Josh Rosen might be the real deal. Rosen passed for 351 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, leading the No. 13 Bruins to a 34-16 victory over Virginia on Saturday.

- Arizona get a big downgrade after giving up over 500 yards to a UTSA offense that had a new QB and only 2 returning starters. They also lose defensive leader Scooby Wright for at least a month.

So how did the Head Coaching fiasco in the Big 10 West do? Wisconsin hires Alvarez "Yes" man Paul Chryst and shows little offense as Alabama smokes them. Nebraska hires Oregon State's Mike Riley (who never won a PC 10/12 conference title) and gives up a "Hail Mary" to a Mormon team for Nebraska's first opening loss since 1985. Illinois managed to easily for interim HC Bill Cubit. In the East, not even Jim Harbaugh could stop Michigan from losing to yet another Pac 12 team. The good news? The streak should end in week 2 when Michigqan hosts Oregon State.

Orangebloods and jblonghorn would be smart to disappear for a season. Texas is really terrible. Next for the Losinghorns is a team that they can compete with. Rice.

The Pac 12 North is rather pathetic. Oregon should have no problems winning that division, but a loss to Michigan State this week just about eliminates them from Playoff contention. In the West, it looks like USC and UCLA are the class of the division, but do not overlook the two Arizona teams or Utah.

Oklahoma may be the best team in the Big 12. They desperately need that to happen because no one cares about Baylor or TCU, including the people who select the teams for the playoffs.

Incubus knows his shit on O/U's....

BYU QB out for the year.

Some unimpressive opening weeks for a few teams. I'm going to wait until after week 2 to start fading teams, as the saying goes "the biggest improvement is week 1 to week 2".....

I watched most of this game since I had a bet on ND, Texas looks like they have already quit on Strong and want him gone. His my way or the highway mentality has run it's course.
