Umpire should've stopped play and automatic ball called.... Not called so......
- If a pitch is delivered after a violation is called, it’s a dead ball – meaning even if the pitch is hit out of the park, it doesn’t count if there was a pitch clock infraction. This is unlikely to happen in practice, however, as umpires have been instructed to demonstrably step out and stop play in the event of a pitch clock infraction.
A pitch clock violation is what it sounds like. If the pitcher hasn't made a motion to deliver the pitch when the clock hits 0:00 (the ball doesn't necessarily have to be out of his hand), it will be counted as a pitch clock violation. Border line Guess it's judgement call??

Ashcroft was a winner in his only prior start against the Nationals, allowing one run on four hits in seven innings on June 2, 2022.
