Raiders +9 at home week one.. Any thoughts?

Damn this looks good.. Raiders are definitely capable of keeping it close, these teams know each other well..

If Russell doesn't fuk up too much, this should cash.

Got +8.5. Home field, Russell has experience, and the Raiders can run well. Plus they have the best corner in the game. It was enough for me to make me think they keep it close.

Yep, Oakland has superior pass defense.. LT is not the LT of old and you're right Oakland can definitely run the ball..

This looks like it might be one of my best plays of the week..

Man it's the Raiders. Does there really have to be a thesis written as to why they couldn't cover any given line? Granted it's not like they aren't being spotted lots of points for being that awful, but it seems a lot of people in the football-know think it will be the Chargers that are the breakout team to beat this year.


Perhaps the focus of analyzing this line shouldn't be on the Raiders, but rather on the Chargers. I think they are going to be a very very good team.

Too close IMO. I actually had the Chargers as 9 point favorites before the line moved to 9. Personally I would stay away as I don't see a clear cut reason to go with either team.

What makes you think anything is going to change ? Raiders blow on national tv. Sd O line mashes Oak D line every time out. Rivers has a picnic with this team.

I know the Saints arevbetter than the chargers and it was pre-season...... But I go to the Raider games and they are Horrible!!

Really, they had the starters in the game against the 2nd string of the saints in the second half and couldn't score. Finally they put Garcia in and got 7 on the board. But they really suck.

It sure didn't look like they had a great passing Defense. Brees was all over them as the score indicates

However, they do have talent to cover this but I would lean SD.

Then again, everyone will prob be on SD. Raiders and As are so unpredicatable - I stay away from my local teams.

Wassup Gyno! Another season is smack-dab upon us!

My vaginal-analyzing friend, I must disagree with your pick. You are right that OAK will be a much improved team this year, and I've told all of my Raider-nation friends such. But improved to me will still have them under 500. Norv finally has the pass "O" where he wants it, and OAK's only star on "D" will have a cast on his hand. Nam's still going to be with his man, but how is he going to jam those big SD WR's, or get potential INT's? OAK beat TB & HOU late last year, but you could tell they were taking OAK lightly and they smacked them in the face. With a disappointing season last year, and this being a div rivalry, SD will not be overlooking OAK. In fact, if I can see OAK is a better team this yr, I'm sure NFL HC's will know the same. And last yr, SD still beat OAK twice, by 10 & 27. And previous posters here are correct when OAK plays poorly on national TV. Oppositely, SD plays better than usual on the big stage, which is why they almost made it to the super bowl 2 yrs ago with LT & Gates hurt.

I see a 10-20 pt win for SD here as OAK continues to struggle on "O". Merriman will be on Russell's back all game. And being a MIA fan, I know that my Hawaii boy Samson Satele will have difficulty vs 350 lb NT Jamal Williams. He has a great heart, but he CAN NOT handle these big NT's in a 3-4 "D", and now he faces one of the game's best.

Phew! That all sounds great, huh? But it still comes down to execution and which way the ball bounces. So if you feel good about the play, then don't let anyone talk you out of it.

I have sd-.5 in a tsr so of course i will hedge looking for the middle if it gets to that.....but normally if no tsr i would wait on this line cause its going up.....against n.o. The raiders were awful and that is what people remember the most.....but in the nfl tms adjust week 2 week and put the past behind them and you have to do that.....played a few gms a month ago and lines are going crazy so setting up some great middle opps.....

I see a Charger blow out. Raiders defense leaks like a siv. If the Chargers get up by a couple TD's early it will look like a jail break. On offense Russell still looks lost to me, particularly without Schillens. According to SF Gate today, the Raider O Line still unsettled, at C and RT. I would be shocked if the Raiders win more than three games this years.

gyno....I don't know what the Raiders' ATS record is the last 5 or so years, but I know that they have been pretty bad as far as SU. I wouldn't put any of my hard earned money on them in any game. Good Luck if you decide to play it.

Of these teams last 5 matchups taking place in Oakland, the Raiders have an 0-5 record and only one game was within 10 points. SD has won all of the last 10 meetings, and covered 9 out of the 10. I wouldnt take Oakland in this matchup for ANYTHING

Also Asomugha the one pro-bowl player on their roster besides their punter Lechler is going to be out of the game. I have a feeling both MNF games are going to be very one-sided indeed
