Before he is done he has a chance to put up some unbelievable numbers. Even though this is the era of the small park, the steroids, the small strike zone, and the juiced ball /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif ,Palmeiro has to be the best kept secret among the casual fan.
Considering he hit only 95 homers his first 7 years , and was regarded as just an average hitter, the back of Raffi`s baseball card will look pretty impressive in any era! He will be 38 next season and lets assume he plays 3 more seasons, not too unreasonable really....With close to his normal consistency over the next 3 years its very concievable that he will end up with 600 homeruns, 3000+ hits, over 600 doubles and 1900 RBI`s those gentleman are mighty impressive numbers! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Palmeiro has to be the quietest and least known superstar, perhaps because he has never won or had much postseason exposure...
When its all said and done, I think its going to look really strange when you see this list three years from now:
Alltime Homerun leaders:
BONDS 760+
AARON 755
RUTH 714
MAYS 660
PALMIERO 600? /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
Just something to think about and likely to happen.....
