Loooooooooong overdue....

Rush Limbaugh's contract is up, his benefactors are broke, and his audience 'toxic.' Next?

Let us all take a moment to celebrate the fall of Rush Limbaugh, previous Republican kingmaker who is still filthy rich, thank you very much, but whose contract is up this year and whose previous radio benefactor is now teetering on the edge of penny-stock status. There won't be any more $400-million deals in Limbaugh's radio future.
The talker is facing ratings hurdles, aging demographics, and an advertising community that increasingly views him as toxic, thanks in part to his days-long sexist meltdown over Sandra Fluke in 2012. (He’s also stumbling through the GOP primary season.) Concurrently, iHeartRadio’s parent company, iHeartMedia, is heading to court, teetering on bankruptcy. The once-dominant radio behemoth is saddled with $20 billion in debt, thanks to a misguided leveraged takeover engineered by Bain Capital in 2008, the same year the radio giant inked its disastrous Limbaugh deal.
Yep, that's right. The company that used to keep Rush Limbaugh in booze and cigars got themselves bought by Mitt Romney's old pals at Bain Capital, and they burned the whole thing down. Then there's Limbaugh's other problem.

Some industry insiders are wondering if his AM days are over and if Limbaugh’s futures rest with satellite radio, where advertiser indifference wouldn’t penalize him. The problem? His audience is so old. “With the aging and decline of Limbaugh's audience, Sirius may not be as viable an option as it once was,” Darryl Parks tells Media Matters.
So here's where Rush is at. His radio patrons are probably not going to be able to offer any new contract this year, at least not unless Limbaugh is willing to work for pocket lint and bits of string, and there's no obvious new home for Shouty Shouty Angry Man anywhere else.
He used to be a kingmaker, you know. Republican leaders wouldn't dare cross him, and those that looked like they might have would rush to apologize to him lest their careers be ruined by he, the kingmaker, declaring to his audience that those lawmakers had to go.
He used to be big—and he still is, he'll tell you. It's conservative radio that got small. It's all everybody else's fault.

Another agreement with DeFinch, that make two out of 1000, but never the less an agreement. Limbaugh
is hard to listen to nowadays trying to persuade listeners toward Lyin' Ted Cruz. He's more subtle about it
than Mark Levin but a Cruz supporter non the less. Both these guys picked the wrong horse and I hope
they suffer for it. Listened to Rush for two minutes today & had to change stations quickly.

I find it fascinating that you are so in love with Trump that your life centers around the belief that Trump supporter = good guy, non-supporter = bad guy. It's remarkable. You remind me of George Costanza and his love affair with Tony.

I have no idea if you have a preference for the nomination & could care much less. I knew Trump, he is a good guy
which IMO is rare in politics. I registered Republican for the first time here in NY & just voted for Trump.

I would think he can find ways to profit that don't have to do with terrestrial radio. Look at Beck, most people think he is a loon, but he has his own show, website and network.

[h=2]Mark Morford, a liberal columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle, published a tirade Monday in which he wished for Rush Limbaugh’s death — both commercially and literally.[/h] In a column entitled “Cheer up! Rush Limbaugh is not long for this world,” Morford hailed “the imminent, long-overdue demise of the most fatuous, morally flatulent king of all hate media.”
Citing left-wing sources such as Media Matters, Morford claimed that Limbaugh’s ratings are declining and his contract renewal is jeopardized by the financial troubles of iHeartMedia (formerly Clear Channel).
He also expressed the hope that Limbaugh “suffers an inoperable swarm of genital warts, in perpetuity, forever.”
Morford, who has been suspended from the paper several times, including for mocking statutory rape, is responsible for a widely-mocked column during the 2008 campaign lauding then-Sen. Barack Obama as a “Lightworker”:
Many spiritually advanced people I know (not coweringly religious, mind you, but deeply spiritual) identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who has the ability to lead us not merely to new foreign policies or health care plans or whatnot, but who can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet, of relating and connecting and engaging with this bizarre earthly experiment. These kinds of people actually help us evolve. They are philosophers and peacemakers of a very high order, and they speak not just to reason or emotion, but to the soul. [Original emphasis]
Beyond Limbaugh, Morford writes, there are still other conservatives to hate, including “Breitbart, Drudge, Alex Jones, Ann Coulter, Michael Savage and, um, a few others I don’t care to dredge up, because I have a functioning soul, because I value joy and I care about the world.”
The Chronicle publishes Morford’s column under the heading “Notes & Errata.” He also describes himself as a “senior yoga instructor” and “admirer of trees.”

Of course, NOTHING in the original article being quoted wished Death on Rush. Just another hypocritcal, erroneous post stupidly quoting a wingnut source as accurate. http://blog.sfgate.com/morford/2016/04/18/cheer-up-rush-limbaugh-is-not-long-for-this-world/

Why scalp a $25 bet? You knew Trump was a God among mere mortals, should've just rode it out.

More "facts" from the Daily Kos by this silly, dumb embarrassment. You would think he would have quit with the predictions after the ObamaCare thread, but no, this dumb fuck persist onward.

Limbaugh is a loser compared with other conservative radio hosts. Wilkow is the only one I would ever listen to...not even sure he is on any more but he used to come on before Hannity from 8-11 I believe.

I have actually tried to listen to some of the left wing XM Sirius stations before...made my stomach turn worse than Limbaugh. My god you wouldn't believe that incessant bullshit they spew on their shows.
