Do they make him sell the team? Can they do that contractually? Will he get benched for game 5? How bout having his rings stripped?

None of the above. A couple of weeks from now he will be a distant memory.

As soon as the next (fill in the blank) makes an off the wall statement the media will hit it for a couple of days and then move on.

Quite frankly I don’t understand all the fuss.

sad that this is even a story and no one is talking about someone illegally taping a private conversation and releasing it for money. She's a twunt.

If a league investigation announced Saturday by Silver determines it was Sterling speaking and the comments were not doctored, Silver will need his players — black and white, American and foreign — behind him as he prepares his club of billionaire owners for a move on Sterling that could get litigious and ugly. He will need the power of the league at large.

A former N.B.A. owner, speaking Sunday on the condition of anonymity out of respect for Silver’s investigation, said of Sterling: “He’s been a thorn in the side of the league for a long time. Lawsuits, harassment, you name it. But when people talk about getting him to sell, I’m not sure that would faze him in the least.”

Sterling, the former owner added, has always prided himself on buying and leasing his real estate properties, never selling.
“He always said he would follow that strategy with the basketball franchise,” the former owner said. “Plus, in this case, there are going to be a lot of legal components.”

California law requires two-party consent in recording conversations, so the woman on the audio — said to be Stiviano — could have future problems that may potentially be more costly than Sterling’s. And that could allow him to play the victim card.

Republicans having more problems with facts...

According to the Los Angeles Board of Elections, Sterling is a registered Republican, who first registered in California in 1974. The state database's records have listed him as a Republican since 2002. He voted in both the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections.

I'm willing to bet he did not vote for the black guy, lol.

Here's a guy who wasn't a racist but if he owned a team now he'd be tarred & feathered

TED STEPIEN

In 1979, the Cleveland Cavaliers owner said his roster should ideally be at least 50% white, for marketing purposes, because white fans like watching players who looked like themselves. This remark initiated a quiet campaign by the NBA to convince Stepien to sell the Cavaliers, a transaction that was eventually brokered by soon-to-be NBA commissioner David Stern in 1983, when the league agreed to give buyer Gordon Gund extra draft picks.

Sterling is worth $1.9 billion. Self-made. My only disappointment here is how a guy like him could get played by a nobody. For that, I chastise Mr. Sterling.

Gas Man is a good dude. I have no problems with him. Deep down inside he has a good heart. But the nature of this forum requires him to side with psychos like Joe and Dave.

Is someone who favors one race over another a crime?

Do you believe in freedom of association (for any reason - rational or irrational), or not?

That is racist. Does he own a team?

If he did, I wouldn't care.

Race is a non-issue to me - live let live. It's the people obsessed with race who are the problem.

As an owner of a sports team, all I'd care about is winning.

MLK's dream was a color-blind society ("by the content of their character") and would have condemned racists like Sterling, Obama, Holder etc.
