The New York Racing Association is attempting to make the dream matchup between Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta a reality. According to a NYRA source, NYRA is close to finalizing a deal with a sponsor either to create a race, or, more likely, enhance the purse of the Grade 1 Beldame on Oct. 3 at Belmont Park from $600,000 to $1 million in hopes of bringing the two superstar females together.

I would say Great, but little or no chance.....Both will hope to retire undefeated, and IF they both banged heads one would go down as a loser!

rachel lost three times earlier in her career......shes not undefeated....not a big deal though because she is amazing now

bush track Sam Houston also offered big time cash to have the 2 duke it out there....like someone else said i dont see zenyatta leaving cali or rachel heading west.

I don't see Zenyatta shipping East in October to run on the dirt when the Breeder's Cup is at Santa Anita on the polytrack just a few weeks later. The $1 million won't bring her. The Breeder's Cup Distaff is worth more.

whatever they decide, please don't let it be a match race....that's not real racing...it;s a gimmmick...have we not learned since ruffian....anyways it's all smoke as i don't see it happening either....zenyatta will never run on dirt!!!...she's like mayweather never fighting out of vegas

When Zenyatta won at Oaklawn, at the time it was a new top for her.The race at Oaklawn is still the second fastest race she has run in her career.Her trainer doesn't want to leave California, but it's not because of having to run on a regular dirt surface.
