Why is the 8 even in this race and why did KD jump from Lucas horse. Although I don't think Z has the distance

From Timeform

The Grade 1, $1,000,000 Arkansas Derby has a field of eight three-year-olds going a mile and 1/8 on the dirt. All eyes (and most of the money) will be on American Pharoah as he continues his march to the Kentucky Derby. It’s not often that you see a 1-2 shot on the morning line, let alone in a race with an eight-horse field, but that is what we have today.
According to the TimeformUS Pace Projector, the clear early leader will be Mr. Z, who is putting the blinkers back on today and continuing his quest to run in as many Derby preps as possible. American Pharoah is shown in second place, and he’s followed by Bridget’s Big Luvy. The pace of the Arkansas Derby is projected to be neither fast nor slow.
We find our attention going to only five horses in this race:
Mr Z. (10-1): His trainer, D. Wayne Lukas, has been known to jump up and strike at the oddest times. But the truth is that we think Mr. Z is over the top and we don’t like him for the top spots in this race. Technically, his December speed figure of 108 makes him the fastest horse in the race, but we don’t like the way he reacted to that number, and we don’t like the way he reacted to the “recovery” 94 two races back.
Madefromlucky (6-1): Pletcher colt ran a lifetime top of 91 in the Rebel and could not lay a glove on American Pharoah. If we were inclined to build a case for him winning this race (which we’re not), we’d speculate that he improved in his last start despite not enjoying the slop. But that’s a reach, and even if one makes that reach, there is still a lot of work to do to put this horse over the top. We see him as an underneath-threat only, and we’d need a lot more than 6-1.
American Pharoah (1-2): Won his comeback race with ease and holds a clear edge over these on our data. Baffert has a superb record at this racetrack. He gets a Trainer Rating of 100 out of 100 here. He gets a 90 rating going second off the layoff. This colt elicits paroxysms of glee from the clockers every time he sets foot on the racetrack in the morning. Will he be obliged to come from off the pace today for the first time in his career? Quite possibly yes, and his ability to do that successfully is a minor question mark, but it is not as if he will have to work his way through a 20-horse field today. At worst, e figures to be placed just to the outside of two other horses, and more likely only one. If that bothers him, well, we might as well find out today.
Far Right (9-2): Ran a lifetime top of 92 while winning the Grade 3 Southwest over a sloppy track. The race received a Race Rating of 94, which makes it equal to the preliminary Race Rating of today’s race. One could argue (as some are doing) that he won in spite of the racetrack and that we should see his very best today. We are taking a middle position. We do not buy the “disliked the track and won anyway” argument, but we do like his overall pattern of speed figures, and we expect him to run well today. However, there is a lot of distance between “running well” and “running well enough to beat American Pharoah.”
Win the Space (30-1): Still a maiden, he exits a 7F maiden race at Santa Anita that was won by Fame and Power. The highly promising Wolf Man Rocket finished second, winning the place photo from Win the Space. The race had an extremely slow pace. Wolf Man Rocket had run a 96 in his debut. Fame and Power was coming in off a 92 and was adding Lasix. Win the Space earned a 91 for his effort and did not receive an ideal trip. He got away rather poorly, raced in last-place early against the slow pace, and made a rail dive in the stretch against a rail that was not very lively that day. He has solid breeding for the stretch-out but is obviously biting off an awful lot today.
The Bottom Line:
American Pharoah holds all the aces in here and will be a huge favorite.
Far Right looks like the most likely horse to complete the exacta, but that exacta won’t pay anything.
Win the Space will be a huge price. We would not exclude him from the bottom of exotics.

My guess is they are getting some kind of kickback or something to enter the race as this #8 on paper is simply outclassed and needed to fill up the field.I agree on MR Z this horse will get out today and quit like he normally does.Might be time to try that horse on the turf and see what he can do.I hope American Pharoah wins by 20 lenghs as this field is full of cream puffs today but I have to say it this horse could win the triple crown as he has the breeding to do it but we will see what post he has in the KY Derby and wins it before I can crown this horse

My question is, if he does win the Kentucky derby, will he wire the field? There are several other horses that are faster than he is & will go to the front.
