We regret to announce the passing of a friend and industry giant. Our beloved Fernando passed away early Sunday morning. Since words cannot adequately express our loss, we'd just like to say our friend was a great man, friend, husband and dad. We'd ask that you please keep Fernando in your thoughts and prayers, and when more information becomes available, we will pass it along.

I was Like NO FUCKING WAY !!!

Right now I am in TOTAL SHOCK !

What a Great Guy ! Man, Anyone in this Business Knows that ! and Knows Fernie !

And he leaves behind a 4 year old kid to Boot ! Life Really Sucks !

My friend got the call from his Parents, and now they are worry if they will let the body be burried in the States !
Maybe it will, and Fernie will get his wish to come back to the U.S

My Deep Prayers go out to all of his Family

I know what went down, as I was here when it happened. But he once told someone, that it would have been nice to go back and forth to see his Family.

Anyway, it's just a shame what happened. This whole thing is just a Nightmare.

I had the pleasure of playing poker at the clarion quite a few times with Fernie. He loved to play poker but more importantly loved his family and friends. My heart and prayers go out to his family and good friends. Fernando was a class act in every way possible, and will be missed by all.

if anyone has any information about his funeral please post it here, it will be appreciated, he was a close friend and it has been really tough weekend for me, we had great times @ Hollywood, like some of you mentioned he was a great guy, friend, dad, definitely one of the best persons anyone could meet RIP mate god bless you

What a loss , I just got back from Vacation in the states and heard this terrible news from a friend. Fernando was a man among boys in this business, a true pioneer and a true gentlemen in the upmost sense of the word. I've known him personally for over 15 years , dating back to New York. when I worked in a boiler room in the city , it was mandatory before we opened to check the lines with "Fernie" who was already offshore at the time, this being around 1994. At this time he was just a voice on the phone , but when I finally met him in person about a year later, he commanded the respect in person that was always attributed to him over the phone. Our paths didn't cross for many years until we remet in Costa Rica and I had the honor of sitting next to him at the Hotel M for quite a few cash games over the last several years. He was the type of guy who would always offer advice and listen to yours as well. Truly a sad day in this line of work hearing the news of such an untimely death of one of the better minds and people in this industry.

RIP Fernie ... Imma gonna miss you.
