question re plasma screens

have a 52" over the fireplace, mounted on the wall. i am reluctant 2 use the fireplace, as i am worried that the heat would damage the tv. anybody know about this?

a good friend just blew his out,,,, hmmmm 20 thous,,, out the window, and yes he bought it 6 years ago,,,,,

I suggested he throw it on the floor,a nd say the srews got loose, then call homeowners insurance (there weill be many more of these Mishaps in the coming years)

It's not 20k

replacement cost is probably 2-3k

value of old set is much less than that.

I know the prices have dropped, but geesh I havent looked for a tv in some time, let alone plasma technology.
