Question on serving liquor at your place of business without a license

I was wanting to hold an event on my store. I do not have a liquor license, but I would not charge for the event.

It's a cake walk for future brides. Is this illegal if you are not charging for anything? I imagine it, but input appreciated.

Probably you can get a temporary license. Call City Hall and find out what the requirements are.

Smooth move getting the future brides all liquored up and feeding them cake. Can I get an invite?

You are allowed to get a liquor permit for the event.
Depending on the area $150-$250.

I don't think you need a temporary license if you are not selling it. When I opened my Pizza Pub we didn't have the liquor license yet so we gave it away for free. It was great advertising too.

I think that's correct. One of the strip clubs down in Fort Lauderdale lost their liquor license a few years ago for a couple of days so they just gave the stuff away. They couldn't even take tips.

Local laws very and a call to the local beverage commission should be able to straighten in out. (Although they could try and tell you you need a permit when you don't really just to get your $$$. Some Internet research of the laws in Cincy might help before you call)

You should be fine as long as you don't charge for any of the liquor and you don't charge admission. If you are selling other things, that should be fine.

That was a GREAT ballpark. My grandparents took me to Cincinnati several times for weekend trips and we always hit the ballpark all three days of the weekend. If I.m not mistaken we used to ride the trolley right to the ballpark.

my salon is byob, as long as your not selling it you should be fine....I have police officers that come in with a 6pack, so i think you should be fine

Check with the Ohio Liquor Commission. In Michigan, it is illegal to give alcohol away. Must charge one cent over cost. Technically you are not charging for the service, but are charging (in the future) for future wedding business.
