Question for video poker experts

My girlfriend loves video poker now that I have introduced it to her (thank goodness I got her off the slots). Can anyone recommend a good book for her to learn from? I am tired of having to play my hand and make sure she is playing correctly also.

Also, since it seems I will be spending more time at these machines, can anyone recommend info on perfect strategy (or a site I can practice at or learn from)

I hate going to a gun fight with a knife. If I am going to do it, I want to do it right.

thanks

Get Bob Dancers stuff, along with his software. She can practice for free, and it will alert her when she makes mistakes and show how costly they are.

Expect a great deal of mistakes........

Tommorrow News-

You should get the best software on the market today to begin with......WIN POKER for $29.95

http://www.bobdancer.com/shopping_items/winpoker_version_6.0.html

Then get yourself one of the best, or IMO the very best book on the market for video poker.......VIDEO POKER OPTIMUM PLAY by Dan Paymar.

Please feel free to shoot me an email at Strutnut@aol.com and I can enlighten you to a couple more things that I would not like to disclose here in the forum.

Fish-I got on Bob Dancer's site and checked it out. Are all of those games positive expectation games? Which ones should I focus on? Do I need to read all the different books? So far, I know nothing about video poker, but I did order Dan Paymar's book.

As a beginning VP player, you need to concetrate 93% of your efforts on learning two games

DUECES WILD
10/7 DOUBLE BONUS

Make sure both are FULL PAY by analyzing the paytable....(you will learn all this in the book and save me time here explaining)

You will be able to play DUECES at positive expectation probably in less than 10 hours.

Double Bonus will take you much much longer to master........I suggest you concentrate on Dueces until you are PERFECT with that and than move on to DB.

Starting with the two recommendations I suggested, you are well on your way to making some nice extra cash.

To then get to the UPPER ranks of VP semi-professionalism, you will have to learn a few other things many recreational expert players will never learn ...........many of which are not written in any books.

Fish, thanks man. I am 90% sure that I will be moving to Vegas in early 2005. I would love to get paid to sit in casinos, as well as work as a dealer. If you really can make good money at Video Poker, I see no reason not to pour myself into it.

Fish,
I am an absolute novice when it comes to VP...I rarely play the game unless my wife drags me with her (she plays all the time). My wife likes deuces wild also as you do. Is that the best game to play (and why)? I always thought that jacks or better on a 9/6 machine was better, although admittedly, those are hard to find anymore. Also, don't the 10/7 double bonus machines pay only 1:1 on two pair? It seems to me, (and I realize I could be wrong on this), that the 2:1 payoff on 2 pair more than makes up for the 10 versus the 9 on the full house and the 7 versus the 6 on the flush?
Thanks.
ps. are you coming to the Vegas bash?

PAYBACK WITH PERFECT STRATEGY

JACKS OR BETTER.......99.6%
DOUBLE BONUS 10/7.....100.17%
DUECES WILD...........100.72%

Even though DUECES WILD is a higher payback, you will RARELY find it in anything higher than quarter machines, thus is the reasoning you will want to perfect DB strategy as it will actually pay you more in the long run if you learn it correctly........personally my favorite game.

Yes, I will be attending the Bash and hope to see you there if your attending.

Best Wishes,
FISH

I agree that Dancers Winpoker is the best software. I also agree that the 2 games you will be playing most are Deuces and 10/7 Dbl Bonus. However, just starting out, I would recommend leaning an easy game like 9/6 Jacks. Once you know that game, learn Deuces and DB. DB is a very difficult game to master and is just a variation of Jacks but with a better payoff.

It will take you hours just to get a small grasp on the DOUBLE BONUS strategy.

DONT FRET!!

This is where a high percentage of those that want to learn this game say ........SCREW IT, THIS IS TO HARD.

Just keep studying and practicing at home and eventually you will become ALMOST an expert at the game.

I say ALMOST, because there are only a handful of people in the world that play this game perfectly to return the 100.17%.......but if you can just get yourself to say 100.12% you will reap huge rewards.

Stay focused!

If you learn this game before the bash, you can have some fun on the TEN PLAY nickel 10/7 games they offer at the NUGGET.

A very fun version of DOUBLE BONUS for the VP beginner.
